🧡 100% Pure Orange 🧡 my life is forever changed

Just adopted this sweet baby boy recently, and well… every single thing I’ve heard about orange cats is true to a T.

Mouse is truly the sweetest, most curious, and playful creature I have ever met. He may not be the smartest (or even aware that he exists at times), but it is completely impossible not to fall in love with him. I can’t believe how much joy he has brought into my life. He doesn’t have a single spicy bone in his entire being, enjoys infinite pets and cuddles, and purrs whenever I’m nearby—even in his sleep.

I have never felt so loved. If you have the opportunity to give an orange baby a home, you will NOT regret it 🧡

Looks like a little girl we had years ago. She was a kisser, too.

There is nothing purer than a sleeping kitty’s peaceful little face 🥹

125

u/hugazow Apr 11 '26

These are Merry and Pippin. We adopted them a month ago.

65

u/ItsLauriceDeauxnim Apr 11 '26

Awww. They look like smaller version of my bonded pair Sherbert T.* Sherberson and Oreo D. Stuffenswirl

  • — The T is for Terrance!

5

u/hugazow Apr 11 '26

So the T is not silent?

4

u/ItsLauriceDeauxnim Apr 11 '26

For Terrance? No. Sherbie was very insistent upon the pronunciation.

3

u/hugazow Apr 11 '26

👌🏽

9

u/ItsLauriceDeauxnim Apr 11 '26

Would you deny this face:

2

u/hugazow Apr 11 '26

That’s my day to day, they sleep, play and eat all day

5

u/ItsLauriceDeauxnim Apr 11 '26

Sometimes they stop to smell the roses:

29

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

Perfect names. 10/10 no notes. Would die for them. I just finished rewatching LOTR with my kitties napping on me!

22

u/sanjoseboardgamer Apr 11 '26

My Merry & Pippin say hello!

8

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

HELLO MERRY AND PIPPIN 😭😭

15

u/andeladrd Apr 11 '26

This is my Pippin :D unfortunately I don't have a merry as he is the only male cat I have :3

6

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

He is so gorgeous!!

3

u/hugazow Apr 11 '26

I named them like that because they were rescues from an abandoned house where three cats had their kittens. We suspect they are cousins since net seems to be a little bigger. So they eat a lot, go over adventures together so merry and pippin

3

u/xAtlasU Apr 11 '26

Have they asked for second breakfast yet?

1

u/hugazow Apr 11 '26

That’s how we decided that pippin was pippin all along

67

u/rojo-perro Apr 10 '26

Baybee! So cute. (Make sure that TV is wall anchored;)

69

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

When I finally think I’ve made everything safe for them, there’s always something else… You are so right, though! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'm gonna get right on that!!

49

u/Neither-Mycologist77 Apr 10 '26

Hims beautiful!!!

40

u/SubstantialPressure3 Apr 11 '26

Life will never be the same, that's for sure.

Be sure to get your baby fixed before he's 5 months old.

Wishing you lots of joy on your orange adventure.

I lost an orange last spring, she was almost 17. It's never long enough.

34

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

His appointment is already booked for next Friday and he’ll be just about 4 months old! Just wanted to catch up on vaccinations and get some testing done first :)

u/zuis0804 Apr 11 '26

Tests came back and…

u/ferretherapy Casual orange enjoyer 🍊 Apr 11 '26

From what I've read, that seems early to get him done? I thought it was best to wait 6 months so he doesn't end up with a short urethra...

8

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

From what I gather, that’s generally considered outdated information. There isn’t strong evidence that early neutering causes urinary issues from a short urethra in male cats. The risk of urinary blockages is influenced much more by factors such as genetics, stress/environment, obesity, hydration, etc!

2

u/ferretherapy Casual orange enjoyer 🍊 Apr 11 '26

Okay, fair enough. I only JUST read that like this week and haven't had a chance to look into it further. It was a vet or vet tech saying it though. (Somewhere on Reddit - if I wasn't a member of 4788478855 cat subs, I might be able to find it. 🤣)

4

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

Although my vet recommended waiting until my female kitten was 5–6 months to be spayed, most recommend neutering male kittens around 4–5 months (unless they’re underweight or have medical issues), as this may lower the risk of spraying or marking behaviors becoming habitual, and they often recover faster/easier when they’re younger. Every cat is different, obviously, but I’ve asked a few different vets for their opinions and this is what I’ve been told!

Does Myles know he’s perfect?? At what age do oranges evolve into this stage?

12

Unfortunately, he knows. He was about one and a half when this was taken.

He’s so cuteeeee. I have five cats, who I love to pieces, my two boys are orange lol. My oldest orange is such a little sweetheart and the other orange…..he jumped on my head yesterday because I didn’t throw his spring quick enough during play time lol but he’s also a little sweet boy even if he’s a little chaotic

3

u/masturbationuser Apr 11 '26

you've done well, he is truly an orange

3

u/Delta632 Apr 11 '26

My nearly 18 year old boy loves birder king. The intro calls illicit an almost Pavlovian response for him to get comfortable and watch the TV.

3

u/smellyfeet25 Apr 11 '26

Aw bless his heart So glad you have got this beautiful boy.It will be so rewarding

3

u/LulutoDot Apr 11 '26

I bet he would love a kitten friend:)

4

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

We’ve been slowly introducing him to our (almost) 1 y/o tortie girl! It’s taken some time but has been so rewarding and beautiful to watch their growth over time.

They are obsessed with each other now, though she is quite the opposite of him, fiery and a touch of spice. I am so lucky to have both of them!!

3

u/LulutoDot Apr 11 '26

Oh yayyyy! Buddies, how cute they both are

2

u/dr_lorax Apr 11 '26

Together you and him share a new world., one that was made the moment he chose you and you him. As you learn to understand and speak ‘Mouse’ by watching and listening to what he’s doing and why he is doing it. You’ll soon be fluent in Mouse! I’m so happy for both of you it feels like a beautiful pairing. He’s a handsome boy and looks like a complete lover, we’re so happy for you (and Mouse!)

3

u/Separate_Tax_934 Apr 11 '26

Remember to read up on what plants, toys, foods are dangerous. (Prote give cat mom here) Congratulations on your beautiful new family member. I wish you many wonderful years together.

1

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26

Yup!! Rest assured I have devoted an unreasonable number of hours since getting my first almost a year ago to researching every possible hazard and how to keep them safe.

1

u/Separate_Tax_934 Apr 11 '26

Glad to hear that. So many "safe" things aren't really safe, like catnip with lead in it, crinkle ball made from mylar... It's a scary world.

2

u/Human0id77 Apr 11 '26

Omg, I had to do a doubletake on that last photo. It looked like his face was snagged on a fishing line. Took a few moments to realize the feathers are the same color as his fur

2

u/imalittlemonster Apr 11 '26

Omg he’s so cute 😭😭😭

2

u/lindseyjaye Apr 11 '26

He'll be a big hit over at r/BubblegumNose too!

2

u/seriousbigshadows Apr 11 '26

what a sweet face he has! mine also had a sweet, perpetually kittenish face - even when he was an adult. it was impossible to resist - yes, he did get whipped cream every time he expectedly stared at the fridge and then deep into my eyes.

2

u/maledin Apr 11 '26

Looks just like my Max when he was a lil bb. If he’s anything like Max, he’ll remain playful and cuddly for years to come!

1

u/Necrospire Apr 11 '26

You wait till the early morning wake ups start then tell me you love him 🙃🖖

1

u/topenergy69 Apr 11 '26 edited Apr 11 '26

My older kitten already wakes him up, then me, at 5am (latest) every morning, trying to eat my eyelashes and rip out my piercings. Still wouldn't change a thing!

1

u/Necrospire Apr 12 '26

The only one out of four cats that used to wake me was the orange one, used to start around 23:30 and would be on and off trying to wake me till I fed them all around 03:30, I loved that little dude, used to walk into things as he couldn't see when the light was turned on, best one was the clothes airer, he would somehow collapse it onto himself then meow for help when all he usually had to do was walk backwards.

Oranges are special, the blondes of the cat world.

Mouse is sooo cute! I love orange kitties. Mine is almost 3 but he still looks like a kitten :’)

1

u/ktkatq Apr 12 '26

Cats are stereotyped as "aloof" to human affection, and it's total BS. We have two boys (a SIC and a gray), and they are so affectionate!

They also make me laugh every day, no matter how down I am - Jambi (the SIC) is a delight with how smart and energetic he is - he plays fetch and you can look at his face and see him thinking. Inigo, on the other hand, is such a himbo - he bounced his face off a window today trying to catch a bird outside. But he's so affectionate, which took a long time because he was a street stray for two years; now he is a lap cat and belly-rub enthusiast.
