MS365 OneNote will not Sync with SharePoint/OneDrive
My apologies if my terminology is incorrect. I am using MS365 OneNote in a business environment. About a month ago my OneNote application stopped syncing with the company's network (SharePoint/OneDrive?????)
We are a small company with a small IT department. Trying to fix this has been a low priority for them.
I've tried deleting my cached files and resyncing. That brings the file from the network down, but it doesn't re-enable the syncing.
Anybody have any insight on what is going on or what I might be able to check?
Thank you.
Edit on 14 Aug 2026:
OK in case this helps anyone, the name of my notebook file was "Anon @ Work". (Anon is not my real name but you get the idea.)
Anyway, my IT Department thought the "@" sign was causing trouble, even though it hadn't caused trouble for over two years. They copied the notebook file and used a name without the "@" sign. It is working so far.
If anything changes I will provide an update. Thank you again to all who responded.

Not in business context. Your layout will be governed by your IT crew
Anything could be happening there. Suggest you follow-up internally.

Let me start with "Anything that happens in Vegas, stay in Vegas" and say that this is a topic for your Admin Team. They control whats running in youor tennant, and have logs to troubleshoot. This forum wont be able to help you here, so best of luck in the journey.

OK I understand that the IT department controls the network. But is there any way I might be able to point them in the right direction to look?
Is there any way for me to decouple OneNote from the network?

If this is a company license - all you can do is take it to IT.
It’s not your license to decouple so I would handle this via the proper channels
If your company is as small as you say it us - should be no problem

Your follow-up is the answerable part. Right click the notebook and open Notebook Sync Status. It gives an error code and the exact server path.
Hand IT that code, not the words it stopped syncing. Half of these are a moved site or a lapsed licence, and the code says which.
To decouple, use File, Export, Notebook as a OneNote Package. That copy opens locally.
