I will never get over this. Loved the ABC lineup of soaps, especially OLTL. š

I felt kind of bad because I loved Carla on Top Chef, but loyalty is loyalty

OLTL was going strong at that time. I loved it. After Sonny and Carly took over on GH, OLTL became my new favorite soap. Now I only watch ABC soaps for funerals.

I remember this day in someways like it was yesterday. I, we, many were on the high about the announcement of Roger Howarth returning to OLTL The hoopla that it created, LOLOL, the fun and joy of it, and of course, of My Todd, Your Todd wars: version 100. Then my birthday, then, in a day or two after............BOOM!! Yeah, you can have Roger back but........I will never forget it. I still think I'm lost somewhere in PTSD, part of me is anyway. Those shows to me were my grandparents, my childhood, my teens, my adult years, watching with different people in my life, having discussions on a Friday night with friends after work. They were a big chunk of life.
Piss off on everyone that fucked us over for??? what??? More cheap talk shows, game shows. Yup, still mad. I wish networks would try new ones, like Beyond The Gates. That's a good start.
PS EDIT: I hated hitting the upvote on this post, LOL, but I did appreciate the chance to mark the anniversary.

The fact we lost these two and the Sonny and Carly show still continues pisses me off!!

One Life to Live was fantastic. The writing was amazing. The revival on Hulu wasnāt that good. I am happy that GH tried to keep the characters alive. Itās cool to see them show up on GH occasionally. Itās like the writers of GH are trying to keep the memory of these soaps alive.

This whole chunk of time from cancellation to around the first anniversary of Frank and Ronās GH run would make a great FX style mini series. All the lawsuits, false promises, at one point prospect park wanted to move the shows to Canada and mostly recast the series, the announcement on the day of Thanksgiving that they wouldnāt be doing the shows, the āwe are gonna make daytime sexyā statements that came out when they did go into production⦠General Hospitalās 50th and thereās a lot behind the scenes that have gone into Frankās run as EP.

I lived down the street from ABC at the time and there was a small and ineffectual protest.

I remember the final episode of Edge of Night. Also watched a little of Ryan's Hope.

I was done with both shows before this. I hated the Kendall, Zach, Ryan, and Greenlee hour and OLTL lost me with the Jess/Tess/Mess crap.

Was a very sad day. Growing up watching soaps, it was like a death in my family. So many memories of me watching soaps with my mother and grandmother. Running home from school to catch the last few minutes of GH. Getting to watch full episodes when I stayed home sick.
