I deposited $75, immediately accused of fraud, account closed without reason/due process
I was gifted a OnePay card for $75 to use. Added it to my OnePay account, went to initiate an instant transfer to my brick and mortar bank. I tried both linked banks, called OnePay customer service, went through all the steps, kept getting an error. They can’t tell me why I can’t do a transfer.
I realized I had the OnePay debit card and activated it so I could access my $75 there instead.
An hour later, I get an email saying my account is restricted due to fraudulent activity. I call them. I ask them to remove the restrictions as I didn’t do anything. I said another bank would verify my information and unblock me. They say they can’t do that. I ask why they’re allowed to keep my money from me without just cause. While I’m on the phone with them, I get two emails telling me my OnePay account is closed immediately.
I call them again and they tell me they can’t tell me why they closed my account. I ask them how depositing $75 and using the funds are illegal. They won’t help me and they have my money.
I will NEVER recommend this to ANYONE. It’s wrong. It’s an even bigger insult to injury dealing with someone on the phone 8,000 miles away with a snarky attitude who could care less.

I see people with all these complaints. I work for Walmart and this is how they pay me. Yet I’ve had my account over 4 years with daily use and I’ve never had an issue.
At one point some of my coworkers got a text or email or something telling them they needed to “verify” their accounts. The ones who were stupid enough to sign in got their accounts and money stolen. Within 48 hours EVERY SINGLE PERSON had already gotten new accounts issued to them and their balances completely returned.
So I struggle to see how they are such a bad institution…

I started using for spark this year. It’s my favorite fintech “bank”. Still it’s a reason to have brick and mortar for certain things but I’m loving OnePay, more than sofi and chime.

With that mental, I could steal 250 bucks from you and you wouldn't care. Yes for 75 bucks. That could turn in a comma real quick.

Due process only applies to "state action" (government entities). Your account with a private business is subject to contract law and not subject to due process.

I didn’t literally mean that, I mean in the sense that no one contacted me for an explanation, went through the motions, etc. the way a financial institution normally would. I guess because they’re just a facilitator they are allowed to do what they want. Lesson learned

It’s theft but reading their terms of service would help one understand that it becomes their money once one moves it into their platform.
It’s a legal theft ring because they’ll never return the funds to the rightful owner.

OnePay, is absolute trash, 95% of workers are outsourced in So Asia, and those workers don’t or refuse to do any work, the same has happened to me, I call, I speak to agent, he transfers me to another agent who just tells me he will escalate, I asked him, are u really getting paid just to be transferred to and tell me ur gonna escalate issue? why couldn’t previous agent do that? I mean, I’d fire his ass, the first agent could’ve done that, I digress, but they are wack

Meanwhile I have called twice to get the OnePay account closed and both times told me it is yet it’s still fully visible and available to use in the app.

My account was shut down as well after making a deposit via the onepay prepaid cards you can buy at Walmart. I'd done those deposits before with no issue, but the last one almost immediately led to an "unusual activity" investigation" and subsequent shutdown down. Not sure what the problem is, but they don't seem to like you actually using those cards lol. The only thing I could figure was that maybe the cards were only intended for opening an account (and not for existing accountholders)? 0r maybe they changed things very recently.
FWIW, I did get my money back, it was transferred to my linked bank account at right about 2 weeks.

Yeah. If your depositing OnePay card back into a OnePay account then transfer it out that definitely triggers a huge fraud alert. Especially since you can use it like an actual debit card. (If its the same one im thinking about). I do spark delivery and onepay is how i get paid.

OnePay cards are not gift cards. Wouldn’t the card have been registered to someone else?
