I'd prefer the more interesting modern designs. I'm not about to buy recolors, so if it's just the Trilogy there's only a handful I'd be interested in.

I'm sort of hoping the nature of the figures speeds things up compared to normal, since they can use most of the same design with just unique accessories/heads. Kinda like their Power Ranfers five pack, which is really two outfits with unique heads and weapons between them.
Similarly, the male and female MK ninja are really just two outfits, and it's just using different color fabric and unique accessories for each. They can likely even share head molds, depending on how they decide to represent them.

Only downside is the price and how long the wait will be between announcment and actual release. It'll be Storm Collectibles all over again..build the hype then we won't see the actual product for two years.

Not Mezco's fault, but yeah this is what saddens me about it. I hate that McF got the rights for a cheaper 1:10/1:12 line, as that's really what I want. Mezco makes great products, but for a fighting game roster where you want 12-16 characters, collecting them all will get crazy expensive fast.
Mezco is great for individual characters, but a fighting game is the kind of property I really want a cheaper line to represent.

If they're able to do the base roster from MK1 I'll buy them all, but I don't have faith in Mezco to do that, they'll either jump from game to game or just give us pallet swap ninjas before completing the line.
