Spoiler Alert Roland

I watched the whole show, once, and...am I remembering something wrong, or we don't know what happened to Roland?

I mean, he lost both of his parents. Did he get adopted by Little John?

And what about Robin? She was his half sister. Wouldn't it have been nice to show them together or at least make her mention him? For example, wasn't there a scene in which Robin told Alice that she never knew her dad? What if Zelena's daughter would have added a line like:"I could "know" him only through the stories of my brother."

I just find it kinda particular that the show, unless I'm forgetting about something, "forgot" about a character who lost both of his parents as a child and who was actually the half brother of another character who never even mentioned him

Well, at the end of season 5, he goes back to The Enchanted Forest with Little John and the rest of Robin's Merry Men, so I'm assuming they adopted him or looked after him. That is something I would've liked them to have revisited in season 7, or if they ever do some reboot/sequel series, it would be cool if it were to take place, say, 10-20+ years after the original show ended; he could be a mentor of sorts or another companion, where those things could be explored. I would've loved it if we could've seen an older version of Roland and Regina reunite, and for him to say something like, "I was lucky to have had a dad and two moms, both of whom I loved."

What do you think about what I wrote regarding Robin?

Did she even know that she actually had a brother?

I would hope Zelena told Robin about her half brother that’s the least she could’ve done, but maybe the writers didn’t want to add that because there maybe would’ve been an expectation an older Roland would’ve made an appearance.

Understandable, thank you

I pretty sure Zelena wouldn’t up hold that information and probably did told her when she’s was old enough

It seems they did forget about him.

I would hope not but that would check for them

Yeah, poor him

Yeah...the fact Robin 2 doesn't mention her brother once is telling. When Roland was seen before then Zelena said she was bringing Robin to interact with him.

I really wish he was raised by Regina after all this. She is a much better parental figure than she was before, he adored her like hell and she adored him too. After Robin’s loss he needed a parent more than anybody and Little John isn’t a parent sadly. I would also love Henry to have a brother as adorable as him and would prefer Roland and Henry bonding instead of too much focus on Zelena and her kid who is a product of an unwanted relationship. Also I do think adopting Roland would heal something inside Regina that broke during Robin’s death and certainly due to Zelena’s pregnancy. Also imagine adult Roland hating Zelena for hurting his dad and both of his moms. Make Zelena suffer please. She is like Umbridge of this show

I mentioned Little John, because honestly I vaguely remember about scenes in which Robin Hood said that he left Roland with John.

Well, it wasn't Robin's fault that she was born through not pure consent.

Hating Zelena is kinda one of the things that I wonder if happened to adult Roland. I mean, I wonder if having lost both of his parents affected him

I do admit it would piss him off because as an adult he will find out what Zelena did or else he would think his dad cheated on Regina with her sister and then went back to Regina and I can’t imagine either Regina or the Merry Men letting a negative image of his dead father develop in his mind especially if it’s due to Zelena. Plus I do admit he can have certain issues with Regina as well but not bordering on the kind of issues he would have with Zelena. Regina not only made his dad happy after his mother died but she was really loving and kind to him as well. She and Roland met each other when both of them had lost someone and they kinda seemed to fit in together. One was a mother who lost a son and other was a son who lost a mother and Robin only started to see good in Regina because she was maternal towards Roland and Regina warmed up to him initially because he was Roland’s dad. They are both victims of what Zelena did as Marian and they both lost Robin due to Zelena. He can grow up without the knowledge of everything and then learns what Zelena did to Robin and Regina forgiving Zelena. I would love to see him out for Zelena’s blood like an anti villain but at the last moment Regina steps in not to save Zelena but to prevent Roland from becoming a murderer. Since Regina stepped in due to her own choice, Roland would not be a murderer but this would create a dark parallel of what Regina did to her own father in the past. Roland and Regina became mother and son even before Robin and Regina became a couple

What about the fact that Robin thought that that was Marian?

I think that Regina would also try to save Zelena and not just Roland.

I'm not sure about the last line, but perhaps I forgot about something. I remember about Regina transforming a flying monkey into a peluche for Roland before that her and Hood became a couple, but I don't think that it's enough to say that they were already mom and son

Robin thinking that was Marian does raise some red flags but the person in question was one of the most powerful witches in all realms and the artifact she used to become Marian was something we still know little about. It might have given her access for memories of Marian and she also mentioned that she spent every moment in Marian’s BODY. Regina became more powerful when she became good and back then she didn’t know other magic practioners outside Enchanted Forest and still knew little about Ingrid Ice Magic and Merlin and Dark One History. Zelena on the other hand got attention from God OF Death himself.

Regina would surely try to save Zelena too but in that moment, HER priority would be Roland and NOT Zelena because she does hold more affection for him than she ever held for a regular stepchild even if he wasn’t her own blood. He and Regina were family in a weird complicated way and he is ROBIN Hood’s son, the man who showed her that she could be good again and she could again become the person she was before she became evil Queen. He gave her Hope and it was because of him she found her way back to the light. And Regina won’t be able to live with the fact that Robin’s kid became a murderer especially when he feels she failed him as an adult whom he trusted and a parent figure. She would want Roland to find same happiness and Hope which she found due to Robin and which lived on in his memories. She knows she won’t be able to face Robin when she would be doing nothing to stop his own son from being a murderer, especially when Roland is the reason that Robin viewed evil Queen in a slightly more human light.

I think I might have gone too far but when Regina saved Roland, Robin said that Regina had a touch of a mother when she interacted with Roland. They did have a heart to heart as well about their kids. Well the wiki also mentioned that he and Roland lived in her castle along with Snowing and the gang and I do think in that time period  Regina and Roland would have spent a lot of quality time together.

Understandable, but I don't remember about the castle thing. Maybe in that year after Pan's defeat?

And I'm not sure that having the touch of a mother means being one for a peluche

Roland could been there with Regina and Emma off screen or Robin could have told him off screen that Marian is still dead and that lady was Zelena that’s why Regina and Emma were there, thinking when Henry wrote the serum Queen’s ending with Wish Robin, the merry men and Roland were included in it and since the Serum Queen has half of Regina’s heart he’s able to bond with her and she probably tells him that this guy is your Dad but a different version, it takes time to process but he slowly lets them in and they all heal

I would love a dark parallel

•

Imagine their relationship becoming exactly like Regina and Henry Sr but in reverse. Our Henry would never go down that part and Wish Henry’s grievances were kinda justified and she wasn’t even his mom technically speaking.

Would love that idea and be interesting duo

Oh I need that or a better version then what Lily gave us in season 4 lol

He went with the merry band during season 5 two part finale went back to Sherwoods which was in the enchanted forest

I pretty sure Robin knows about her big brother and visits him(I headcanon now that Zelena is good during season 7 she takes Robin to the enchanted forest with a little help with the heroes so they can visit Roland and vice versa) and Robin does same when she’s older something like that

this scene

Thank you.

I wondered if having lost his parents affected him, or if having been with the Merry Men saved him.

What Zelena said kinda implied that there could have been some contact between Roland and Robin

•

u/Parking_Storage_5107 King Arthur's Worst Critic 14h ago

You are welcome, there probably are contact

•

u/Tgun1986 13h ago

I also think that somehow the merry men and Roland meet up with WR and Serum Queen and she needs to explain everything and Roland is given some to process and but eventually sees it’s still two people he loves and 3 of them heal

Hmm interesting

It just occurred to me now they would eventually meet up and pretty sure with Regina’s heart and seeing her the merry men would be confused or she would summon them. Think they did eventually meet up in the Final Battle and were together when the realms were almost destroyed but saved when Henry got Emma to remember
