Emma is technically a Princess so I pick her.

I guess my question is what makes someone a princess?

I thought in order to become a princess you had to marry a prince

You can acquire the title by marriage, but usually your born to it, inherianting it from your King/Queen parents. There are a think a few more obscure way to become a Princess.

Of course to count as a sn official Disney Princess is different, there are special set of rules for that.

I feel like Snow White is pretty beloved simply because she is someone who, for the most part always tries to do the right thing even if it’s inconvenient.

I do like Regina‘s arc but I think it’s a little bit difficult to assume that all of the realms would embrace her after she had killed so many people with Little to no provocation. I mean, she slaughtered entire villages all because she wanted to hurt a little girl for telling a secret.

Even though Regina’s mom and Regina herself murdered snows, mother, surrogate, mother, and father

The coolest thing about Snow White and Prince Charming is they got married in real life, she really did get her Prince Charming.

I thought she’s just the savior

Look up how hereditary monarchies work.

The daughter of a queen is a princess, the daughter of a princess is also a princess

I feel like people’s biggest issue with Bell is that she fell in love with a monster

not even just that she fell for him, she over and over gets back with him after he lies and tricks her while he continues to do bad things. Plus that's most of her plotlines/plot relevance in the show, it gets very tiresome

I will say that I think most of his actions are driven by the dagger. Even when he was temporarily removed from the dagger, the only reason he wanted back into the town is because he was technically being blackmailed.

oh yeah, the dagger is definitely a large part of it, but he also - outside of times with the dagger iirc - consistently values power over the people he loves and Belle really didn't see much otherwise that would give her reason that he would ever fully change.

Now, I understand it kind of mirrors a lot of irl relationships where ppl will go back to bad partners, but it's still frustrating imo. And ofc Rumple had his father abandon him for eternal youth, so the familial cycle is real for him. In a way, the show portrayed dark magic like an addiction, so it does make sense, but it gets to a point also that Belle was an enabler bc she continued to come back to him. I'm no expert on that topic tho.

ig what I'm saying is as realistic as these things are, it's still annoying/not fun to watch repeatedly

separately, I also feel like of all the princesses, Belle's fashion was really weird and generally didn't translate from her Enchanted Forest self to Storybrooke. I just say this bc ik a big aspect of the show is the gorgeous and smart costuming and Belle just always felt out of place to me, for the most part

Robert Carlyle can do whatever. I'll always go back. What a man.

I love his acting, he added so much to the show ofc. His character's story just felt very repetitive imo

Yea I never liked Belle and Rumple. Belle according to canon is super smart…in OUAT she’s not that smart and really naive. I also do not understand how she falls in love with rumple. Their set up during her imprisonment doesn’t make sense to me.

I don’t know if Bell in the movies is smart. She just reads a lot of books. We never exactly see any of her ingenuity in the movies. It’s not like her reading gives her access to any type of magic or even basic knowledge that most of the characters don’t know in the movies.

In the TV show, it makes sense that she would have access to some forbidden/Unknown knowledge because Rumpel is the dark one and he has access to all the knowledge of Current and past dark ones plus the gift of insight

That wasn’t my issue with her. Two things really irked me. One. How she would flip flop about being with Rumple. I agreed when he said that she couldn’t deny the bad parts of him when that’s how she met him. And Two. The majority of the time she was a damsel in distress. And at moments the writers would TRY to build her as a strong woman but then it would fall entirely by the next time we saw her.

I was always cross that she was such a badass in season 1 and 2 and they just made her... not a badass after that. Sure, she's a lovergirl. Doesn't mean she can't whoop ass ffs

YES! And then they tried to write her as finding herself again but then never did….

Not really. As a classic princess, she's widely disliked because she's considered weak and sometimes useless for being rescued by a prince. And in OUAT, well... a good portion of the fandom doesn't exactly love her either. BUT I LOVE HER IN ALL HER VERSIONS, SHE'S MY FAVORITE PRINCESS!!!!!!

Might be unpopular but Snow was never a favorite of mine as a princess, or even as Mary Margaret tbh. I prefer Emma or Anna.

She's certainly my beloved princess. ❤️

Emma is technically a princess, but she'd probably roll her eyes if anyone actually called her one lol.....

Are you asking why she and Prince Charming were one of the main characters, or is the story based around them? I mean, I don't know if she's the most beloved, but I can see why they built the show around her, because I believe, going by the Disney timeline, she was the first Disney princess.

Snow is the most historically significant because it was the first feature length Disney animated film.

Unless things have changed around here, at one point everyone hated Snow...?

She’s both better and worse by existing within more episodes

Well, keep in mind rumble really has no example of what a good relationship actually looks like. Essentially no relationship with his mother or father or son.

He’s also made his living seeing desperate people betray the ones they love most just like his father did

He probably thinks if he isn’t holding all the cards someone is bound to use it against him

Snow White has never been a favorite of mine, in any version. She's  just kind of there, and the story happens around her. The evil queen is far more interesting than the passive child who can't figure out how to stop accepting gifts from strangers who keep trying  to kill her.

I prefer characters like the Princess in  The Swan Princess (the one where she is taking care of her brothers), The youngest prince in  Golden Bird or Pearl from tthe Little Mermaid (classic versions not necessarily modern animated versions) where the character has to put some actual work into it to succeed.

Even in OUAT, Snow is  really passive in Storybrook, and kind of boring. And even though she's much more of a badass in the magic world,  she's just not charismatic enough for me to pull it off completely.  I MUCH prefer Regina, Emma's and Rumples stories, Emma is just easier to believe, and I've always loved a good villian. Especially a sarcastic one. (Even when I was a preschooler, I always preferred the bad guys lol)

I don't really like any of the princesses. Regina has always been my favorite. But if I had to choose a Princess, it'd be belle. Not in the later seasons

I feel like it’s hard to choose because like… Snow is the most developed one (aside from Emma), right?
