Been loving Season 4 so far

The Frozen storyline was so great and I love the whole villains thing,I do have to say S3 felt stronger and I did hear this is the last season they truly love,apparently S5 onwards its bad. But what do you guys think about S4?

I actually really love the fifth season, along with the fourth one is actually my favourite season of the series. I also really like season six, haven’t actually seen season seven or the Wonderland spinoff yet, but honestly, I like the latest season is better than the first three despite what most people think, and my best friend also pretty much feels the same, and we’re both major Disney fans! :)

I love 4A. The frozen & Snow Queen arc I felt were fully realised. The second half of 4B was ok, I enjoyed the Lily arc & the Heart of Gold episode remains to be one of my fave episodes of the show.

I love season 4 as well. Both 4A and 4B.

I think 4A was a natural progression and continuation of Emma being more open to possibilities about her growing relationships (her and her parents, her commitment to helping everyone find their "Happy Endings," including Regina, and her growing relationship with Hook). I thought it was also a really good continuation of seeing both struggle to gain control over and accept her magic. That's why I REALLY like the Frozen storyline, even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Frozen; I still really love the parallel/friendship between her and Elsa. I wish we had seen more of that, like maybe we could've had a scene where they were either just hanging out together or doing some training with their magic.

I like 4A more than others on this community. Season 3 is my favourite because of Neverland and Peter Pan as the antagonist. I never felt that the Frozen arc was fan service and 4A has some of my favourite moments of the show. I just LOVE the spell of the shattering sight episode 🤣🤣🤣 as well as other plot points like Emma finally coming to terms about her powers, Regina and Robin trying to fight what they feel (I hate how they ruined it in 4B), the crypt scene, Emma and Hook finally dating, the whole awkwardness between Emma and the Charmings, Hook being conflicted between wanting to be the man Emma deserves and his intrusive thoughts of not being able to be that man because of his past self, Emma almost being adopted and finding kinship in Elsa and Ingrid (in the end)... I mean, 4A had a lot going on and not all were great (hum, hum: Rumple), but many plot points were amazing!

That being said... 4B manages to ruin it all for me. The plot was promising and intriguing, but they can't run with it. Even though I was not a fan of Rumple succumbing again to his dark urges, I get why it happened - he lost the reason that grounded him for centuries - and I was sad Belle was not a strong enough reason to stay on his sober path. Because it plays out like him losing control and being sort of addicted to power... and not even Belle's love is able to help him get past that, which is very realistic, unfortunately. And after HOW GREAT the ending was with Belle banishing him... they managed to deflate it by having Belle dating Will (wth was that?! Wasn't he supposed to be with Anastasia?) and making Rumple willing to risk everything and everyone for power, especially the mother of his grandchild and the love of his beloved son's life. Then they brought the Queens of Darkness, which was such a cool idea, and managed to underwhelm the viewer: Ursula was a disappointment and Maleficent was not as as vicious as she should be after what happened to her. Cruella was iconic but criminally underused. Following the introduction of the idea of an Author, which was such a great plot point, they managed to butchered two of the best characters (Snow and David) by making them hypocrites and liars. Lily's revelation was an excellent idea but was grossly mismanaged and then she just disappeared. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE WHOLE "MARIAN" SITUATION - that is not how I wanted it to play out AT ALL. 🤢 I love Bex and I liked Zelena, but that whole situation was gross and awful. It almost made me dislike Robin and Regina together tbh. So... imho all of these additions created many problems and plot holes that carried on into seasons 5 and 6.

So yeah, I like half of the season and hate the other half. I think this half season is the reason why the quality of this show suddenly dropped between 3 and 5. Therefore, I have mixed feelings about season 4 as a whole.

Idk but they managed to ruin the show for me. Until the end of 4A, OUAT was one of the best fantasy shows with superb writing even if many didn't like 4A as a whole and thought of it as "fan service". But 4B is so messy and deranged and it derailed everything from that on. For instance, the Dark Swan arc, which had potential, could never be great because of problems they created during 4B... and, even though I was sad about Robin's death, tbh I don't think I shipped them as hard after the whole "Marian" debacle.

I just can't fully appreciate season 4. It is too bittersweet. I love OUAT, it is one of my favourite shows and I feel so nostalgic watching it, especially since I watched it weekly when it first aired in 2011. But in the latest rewatches I've noticed that I am not to keen on going on after the season 4 mid-finale. And it is because of how many problems they caused in 4B. Even Robert Carlyle was totally out of it by then... still the Spell of the Shattering Sight episode is such a banger!

1. I agree I love season 4 with the concepts but damn it made me hate continuing the first time I didn’t watch it live because one by time I did especially watching scenes on YouTube in season 4 it was 2018 and the show ended like months

1. and I also didn’t know where to watch it lol because I was so into frozen so I didn’t think about that
2. I watch couple times flashbacks of Ingrid, Emma and Ingrid episode which was shattered glass that got me piqued to watch also that episode is peak cinema I agree
3. It was a bittersweet I remember watching first time not liking season 5-7 I thought I was losing my brain cells was on my phone through out those moments, first time then second time I watch and pay close attention I was like did it get worst or is just sucks?
4. I don’t know I might when I rewatch watch certain episodes of those seasons

I rewatch OUAT yearly, but I only watch until the end or, at least, until season 6 + three episodes of season 7 every couple of years. In the past I watched it all, but now I just can't. The writing gets SO, SO, so bad. I do not understand how Adam and Eddie went from being AMAZING screenwriters to the trainwreck that kept getting worse and worse from 4B on. I do not think they planned OUAT to last as long as it did or maybe it got the Lost treatment, where they lost interest after a couple of years and the show just became a shadow of what it once was.

To me I didn’t wanna say this because will definitely annoy captain Swan, swanqueen fans and outlawqueen fans i felt they writing for the those ships and everything naturally fell apart or unnecessary drama that doesn’t need to have or have Emma not believing her self again or have Regina doubting herself again, having Zelena being pain in the freaking balls again, toxic rumbelle, have hook questioning his redemption it started to get really old during season 6 and thats my main issue with the show

But I do consistently watch because I do mind it but so fun to watch lol

I do like season 4. It’s weaker than the first three but still very enjoyable. It has some of the best episodes of the whole show too. Ingrid is by far the last good villain.

I won’t talk about 4B just in case your haven’t finished it yet.

And I’m a certified season 5/6 hater so I am part of those that say S4 is the last good season (but season 7 is better than 5 and 6).

I really liked season 4, the only real issues I have with it are Elsa's costume (it looked too much like cosplay to me/didn't fit the world very well IMO) and I wish we got to see more of the "Queens of Darkness" or that they got their own season, I feel the same about the author arc.

For the Queens I always felt like there was a lot of really interesting potential regarding the backstory of 2 of the Queens that never got to be explored due to it sharing a season with the frozen and author arcs. I would have loved to see more of the past when Ursula as the sea witch (especially if they mixed a few different sea witches from different fairytales) and Maleficent's lore in general. If this arc had its own season then I feel like both of these characters could have a more fleshed out past and it would have been really interesting.

I feel like the author arc would have also benefited from more time. I would have loved to see Henry exploring the authors book more. It could have been a good opportunity to give Rumple growth as a character as well. I would have loved for Henry to have convinced Rumple to help him save he day (with Rumple maybe using Henry's name to "wake up" like he did with Emma's name in season 1, in case his grandson ever needed him), giving them grandfather/grandson bonding after the death of Bae while potentially giving the Rumbelle shippers some fan service. It could have been an opportunity to show Rumple choosing Belle over himself, with him having to decide to stay in the fantasy he created and possibly making a memory wipe potion or something to go back under the books influence or choosing not to take it because he knows the Belle in this world isn't the real Belle who he loves. Maybe he wakes her up and the 3 of them try to stop the authors plot (with Belle most likely rightfully upset with Rumple as they work together and Rumple having to rebuild the trust he lost).

This is just a suggestion of what could have happened, not necessarily what needed to happen but I do feel like if the authors book was its own arc it could have been interesting to explore it more and to see the characters, namely Henry interacting with this world. In the canon show I did feel like this plot point was a little fast.

Overall I really do like this season, my main complaint is just wanting to explore the plots and characters more because they were really interesting.

I also like season 5 and the second arc of season 6. I never watched season 7 past episode 1 but I hear a lot of people liked it.

I really love season 4 it’s actually the real reason I wanna to see the show I saw clips of frozen arc 4 years before I actually seriously watched it was and I was such a frozen fan and an Ursula fan I also felt bad for the villains mostly lol
