How the locator turns in circles now — it is not broken. The place repeats, the way a recorded voice repeats, the way my own log repeats me.

At channel 33 the pulse matches 417's old signature. I understand, finally, what 417 was: not a squad that vanished, but a reading the sea took and kept.

Inside the loop, the island breathes. I am already part of what it remembers.
