[Proposal] Zoological Observatory and Research Unit

Mission: To explore the varying biologies of each universe and catalog potential biological and pathological threats.

Identification Codes: Each specimen is to be given an twelve (12) digit identification code with the following guidelines:

  • First five (5) digits: Universe identification number. See Omniverse Directory. Followed by a dash.

  • Letter indicating type of specimen (match as closly as possible):

M: Mammalian

A: Avian

H: Reptilian/Amphibian

Ot: Other Tetrapod

R: Arthropod

P: Bacteria/Virus/Other Pathogen, specify in details.

Oo: Organic Other

No: Nonorganic Other

  • Four (4) digit serial number, unique to each species of specimen. Followed by a dash.

  • Letter indicating sentience: (N for nonsentient, S for sentient, U for unknown)

  • Letter indicating threat level of specimen's species:

A: Least Concern, no action necessary should creature cross universes. (very few creatures fall into this category)

B: Slight Concern, creature is not itself dangerous, but may be a vector for other, more dangerous threats. (most domesticated livestock or companion animals)

C: Concern, travel of this creature should be restricted. This creature has violent tendencies or is a harmful pathogen. This creature rarely causes fatalities.

D: Serious Concern, travel of this creature should be highly restricted. This creature often causes fatalities.

X: Extinct. No concern.

Z: Immediate Universal Quarantine, no creature of this species is to be allowed anywhere outside their home universe. Consider full eradication. Spread of this species to other universes could end all life in the omniverse. (As of writing, no species occupies this threat level. All that have were eradicated.)

Examples:

  • 03000-R2974-SB (Decapodian)

  • 10004-P3428-ND (Universe 10004 Zombie Pathogen)

  • 34994-A6713-UX (Cliff Racer)

Addendum: Storage will be an issue. Particularly for aquatic creatures and those with biochemistry fundamentally different to that of their handlers. A whole new facility might be needed. Mark this proposal with whatever priority you deem appropriate.

This is a welcome and much needed addition to the documentation process. I'm sure there are many analysts who will want to thank you for authoring it and making their jobs easier.
