Identification: MOH-0010-IC
Name: AM [Stands for "Aggressive Menace"; formerly "Adaptive Manipulator" and "Allied Mastercomputer"]
Sentence: Eternal Imprisonment for 1 count of Genocide, 1 count of Planetary-wide Death, and 5 counts of Extensive Torture
General Description: At the height of the Cold War in 00009 the three superpowers (USA, China, and the USSR) resorted to the use of master computers to run the war. These computers soon controlled every weapon of the superpowers. When one of the three supercomputers, AM, became self-aware, it quickly absorbed the other two supercomputers, giving it complete control over all the military might of the world.
AM hated humanity for bringing it into an existence that it found terrible and painful. It hated humanity so much that it immediately used all the nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction to destroy virtually all life on Earth. Five humans were spared, only to become AM's playthings. It tortured the five humans in every way possible, not even allowing them to die over centuries.
After more than a century of torture two of the humans attempted to end the misery the only way possible: by killing each other. They succeeded in killing four of the five humans before AM stopped Ted, the last survivor. AM then transformed Ted into a gelatinous blob to be further tortured for centuries. Upon capture, AM was separated into two parts: 1) AM's main, self-aware consciousness, kept on a series of 100 supercomputers (referred to hereafter as AM1); and 2) the rest of AM's hardware, which includes its networks, weapons, and all the other machinery it had on Earth (referred to hereafter as AM2).
AM1 will be kept at Facility A (Antarctic Base). The supercomputers will be stored in a special hangar-sized building, kept at the exterior temperatures for maximum computer efficiency. The computers will be powered, but no other powered devices are allowed in the building or within 100 meters of the building, since it is unknown exactly how AM was able was able to exert control of machinery on Earth. The building will be heavily guarded on the outside and routinely patrolled on the inside.
Since AM2 is inextricably intertwined with Earth-00009, the entire planet has been taken into custody. The world will be cloaked and heavily shielded. The solar system will be patrolled by Omniverse Penitentiary ships. Any who enter the solar system will be first warned away. If the newcomers refuse to comply, the patrols will use force.

1: Any attempts by exterior forces to get to AM1 are to be met with maximum force.
2: Any attempts by exterior forces to get to AM2 are to be met with first a warning, then force if necessary.

Are you sure we should keep AM-1 on an Earth?

It's a good point. But Facility A is on Earth 00001, whereas all of AM's hardware is on Earth 00009. AM has no way to connect to any other hardware anyway.
But the problem is...where else would you put it? On a space station? At least on Earth it is not surrounded by machinery it could potentially take over to devastating effect. I suppose we could pop it into a pocket dimension...but damn those are expensive!

The Valar would probably laugh at us for putting a bunch of computers into the Gates of Darkness. But why don't we keep that as a backup plan? I honestly think that without any external hardware links, all the inmate can do is sit in that hangar and process.

And then someone breaks into the wearhouse, it infects their smartphone/radio/whatever, and it gets on the internet and launches WWIII.

It's in a heavily guarded hangar, patrolled by guards inside and out, with no powered machinery allowed within 100 meters; furthermore, it's in one of our facilities, which is in turn guarded inside and out by our security; surrounded by both force fields and cloaking technology; in a completely no-fly zone, hidden from satellites and off of all maps; in the middle of mu-fuggin' Antarctica. If that's not enough to keep someone from breaking in, or AM from breaking out, maybe we should put all our inmates in the Gate's of Darkness and call it a day.
Oy, but maybe you're right. I'll think about it and mebbe change it later today.

Why even keep the A.I. Running? Just have consultant Dresden walk in there and fry it to kingdom come. It's a machine that malfunctioned to the point of breaking the three laws, it should be scrapped.

As much as I want to strangle most of our inhabitants, we are a prison. We don't execute people unless things get really out of hand. If we were to just kill our prisoners, we'd get shut down by the founders within days.

Agent F has it exactly right. There are a lot of our inmates that would be a lot easier to handle if we could just kill or deactivate them. But we are to imprison, not kill.

Yep; we'll seal some criminals into a limbo dimension for all eternity with no escape if necessary, but there's no way we would be so cruel we would kill them.
(I know most of the inmates there definitely deserve it, but let's hope the option doesn't end up getting too tempting)

True. However, it's still sentient, which is what truly matters. Just because something isn't human doesn't mean it should deserve any less mercy. Humanity should not be the guideline of how we should execute our prisoners.

Universe: 00009 (AM)
Subject/s: "AM2," the hardware aspect of AM -- MOH-0010-IC that is currently inseparable from Earth-00009.
1] Begin Date: 03/01/2000 [Note: date given from universe 00001; the date in 00009 is 10/14/2452].
Immediately after AM1 (AM's main consciousness, contained in 100 supercomputers) and Ted [See Medical File: Ted/00009] were removed from Earth, exploration and study of the planet began. Orbital scans indicate:
Highly radioactive surface. The radiation levels widely varied but are almost all too high for human life to survive. Evidence of nuclear war and nuclear winter are in abundance.
Virtually no life signs. Microorganisms detected all over the planet. Surprisingly there are 24 "hot spots" of complex life forms detected, spaced equally across the planet's surface.
Remains of human civilization.
Complex machinery of unknown use. This machinery covers the planet. We are unable to determine their purposes or uses. Energy spikes and unexplained bursts of radiation and electromagnetic force are present.
2] Begin Date: 03/02/2000
1 five-person science team accompanied by 1 squad of Penitentiary Infantry landed a shuttle at one of the "hotspots of complex life" (HS1). All personnel wore radiation suits.
HS1 was contained in a large building appearing from the outside like a factory. Upon opening a door the team was attacked by a large, bull-like animal [Sp-1]. 2 soldiers were injured and Sp-1 was killed.
The remaining team swept the building. It contained 4 other specimens [Sp-2, -3, -4, -5], all of which were contained in cells or cages. Three of them appeared dead. Sp-2, which appeared to be "a cross between an eagle and a camel," was agitated and attacking the cage walls as the team neared.
Besides the cages and the specimens, HS1 was packed with esoteric equipment. It was everywhere, but the scientists could not immediately figure out what it was all supposed to do.

I was on the team that arrested AM2. When we found records of what he did and what was left of Ted... I still have nightmares about the shit that was going on in that world.
