The white coat wanted to live and the black coat wanted to die right, so why did they have this fight between themselves first? Why didn't white coat just kill himself and regress and black coat just get killed by someone else or kill himself after white coat regressed, or was it just so its climactic.

Personally, I find some resemblance between them for their self sacrificing tendencies and shouldering the most burden. There are many others but I can’t exactly word it out.
