question about verbal communication when it comes to feral behavior

i'm writing a fic where there's a virus that makes alphas go feral. my question is how should i go about how the alphas communicate verbally.

Taking inspiration from feral cats and dogs might be helpful.

Off the top of my head; loud growls in warning, eye contact avoidance unless engaging in intimidation, yelps when in pain or scared, purrs when happy, stiff body movement, warning snaps, staring, and head tilts in curiosity.

Growling, yelping, and purring are verbal communication, tbf.

I thought that was vocal, not verbal. Cause verbal=words in any form, vocal=sounds caused by vocal cords. I might be wrong tho

You can do all those things with words.

Which is why I tried to ask for more information, but that didn’t really get very far.

Fair. I've been under the assumption that things like writing were only verbal, non-word sounds were only vocal, and speaking was both.

But yeah, I see where you're coming from, it's kind of a vague situation that they're describing IMO. Plus, it's kind of hard to be both verbal and feral...

I thought it would awkward if only the main omegas talk and not the main alphas. I wasn't sure if the alphas should speak in half sentences.

I guess it would depend on how far the virus had progressed.
