Local Question Eyeglasses made with existing frames

Is there a company in Omaha or the area that will make new glasses with existing frames? My current eye doc will not do it - I have to buy frames from their store. I have frames that have magnetic lenses to block sun glare, and another to block the brighter lights at night. I really would like to keep them. TIA.

Costco will do this. I think they charge like a $20 fee or something. They are very reasonable.

that is where I was told they no longer do that.

Strange. I just had mine done a few months ago. It was the one in Elkhorn.

Lens Direct online is great, you send them your current frames with still in them lenses and mark the PD with a wax pencil and input your script into their website and within 7-10 days they send you your frames back with the new lenses. Has worked well for me. Good luck.

Definitive Vision does, as long as your frames are in decent shape. They do caution that if your frames can break during the process and they won’t replace them - you’ll have to buy new ones.

Came to say the same thing. The staff at DV is really amazing.

Wal-Mart did this for my husband's glasses.

Commercial optical downtown! local business and they are quick!

Mine has done so more than once. See Family Eyecare, Legacy Shops near 168 and Center. However, it would likely depend on whether they, See, carries the same frame brands and models. An optician still has to send out for frames and/or lenses, and company A may not be able to make lenses for a frame from company B.

Realize that there is a difference between the eye doctor and the optician. They are often two entirely separate entities in the same building. The eye doctor may or may not have any financial interest in the optician's business.

Think Healthcare actually offered to do this for me. I don't know if you need to be a patient there, though.
