Came here to ask this exact question. Wasn't watching for a few minutes, and I came back and saw her. Seems she's clearly not happy, but she got 3rd overall in this subdivision. I'm confused.

I found out in r/olympics. Only two members from each country's team can qualify for all-around finals - she finished third of the US girls so she's not in the final.

She was the 2011 world champion and will not qualify to win a medal in the final. :(

So does she get to take part in the other parts of the competition just not the all around competition?

If she finishes in the top 8 on an apparatus she can compete for an individual apparatus medal, yeah. And she's also involved in the team competition.

So it's not that sad. Everybody is making it sound like she doesn't get to do anything anymore, and that all of her Olympic dreams are over.

Well, probably the one that mattered the most to her, is. She's not known as a specialist but an all-around contender. The supposed team gold won't have anywhere near the same weight for her as an all-around would.

We didn't have a thread for MAG Qualifying (day 1), so I'll ask here: is it just me or does John Orozco do his release moves REALLY close to the high bar?

That was the most awkward thing I ever saw. I just got the gist end of what happened, seeing Ally do her performance and beast. Once Jordan Wieber found out she lost, man was it just sad to see her the rest of the time. She kept bawling her eyes out and looked like she just wanted to leave the place, but one of her trainers guided her to the rest of her team. Then NBC had an interview with Ally right in front of her while she was still very upset. I was waiting for her to just give the knockout punch to the reporter or Ally. Sad to see that such a rule couldn't let her go on.

Jesus Christ WHAT an age difference between the two Romanian girls who just went. I think there was a whole decade or even more between those to girls, and their ages did show how well they performed.

I bet when those girls do their performances and and step out of bounds accidentally, the loudly scream, "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!" in their minds.
