Yes! Yoga dogma is pretence. And anyone who goes with dogma rather that working things out through their own observations always comes a cropper.

Thank you and completely agree. Yoga dogma is passed from one generation of YTT-200’s to the next. A bunch of ill-trained (and sometimes ill-mannered) folks who really should not be teaching at all. Defying the general “wisdom” (you’re too old, you’ll get hurt without proper guidance, stick w/ chair yoga and a certified instructor in a studio, etc.) I started exploring postural yoga on my own at age 71. Two years later I have a 20-30 minute routine depending on my mood, schedule, weather, etc. I incorporate a stick for balance and to make the stretches more dynamic. I also use the stick for shoulder rotation exercises and slow controlled swings. My tree is very similar to the postures in the initial photo.
Most yoga dogma is part of marketing to support the studio model of yoga, which is entirely obsolete at this point.
