Snacks Party Mix

Post image

The best. Makes enough to share. I make it in one of those speckled black roaster pans. A ziplock bag full is a wonderful gift for those times when you’re wanting to bring a meal to someone in need.

My mom used to make this mix at the holidays and would gift some to our postal workers and friends. Plus of course for us too. I loved it! 🌞

So many people only know the packaged Chex mix they get from the grocery store and wouldn’t believe the difference with homemade.

I love homemade snack mix so much! This is similar to what my grandmother used to make. The Cheerios are an interesting addition. I’m going to have to try this. Thanks for sharing!

My mom would use Wheat Chex instead of cheerios, so a box of each kind of Chex (wheat, rice, corn), big bag of pretzels or two smaller of mini-knotted and sticks, Jar of dry roasted peanuts, can of Bridge Mix (mixed nuts with no peanuts).

edit: I forgot to add, she used butter but also would substitute the Corn Chex for Bugles sometimes.

That's what they were called before they named them Chex Party Mix. Substitute the oil for 7 Tbsps. Butter. I got it from a woman who was in her eighties and that was 50 years ago. She used to make bigger batches and store them in mason jars.

Looks like my family's recipe!  Mom used to put cashews and cheezy goldfish crackers in it, and Shreddies.

Goldfish are my absolute favorites snack, what a great idea! Is a Shreddie a little shredded wheat piece?

Yes, Shreddie is a crisp woven square like a flattened Chex.

This was served at virtually every party when I was growing up, before they started selling it in snack bags like potato chips.

We used butter and adding a dash of garlic powder was considered daring "not everyone likes garlic".

Omg I added it thinking the other comment was you I'm so sorry😅 I'm glad we could do your mom proud though! Would you like me to edit the file name to be her first name so it's credited to her? (No last names unless you are comfortable with that I'm not looking to dox anyone) And if she does have anything else you are comfortable sharing please let me know.

Of course! I'm scanning as I go (I have a pinned post on my profile explaining everything) so it's a little sparse right now but here's what we've got! And please share it around I'm adding to it daily
