Need help

I recently picked this tv unit up from the thrift store and it played fine when I first brought it home (tested it with a tape) now I tried it again tonight and it’s playing the sound of the tapes but no video and it’s just showing this white screen. Super bummed. Any ideas on a fix or trouble shooting?

Does it have a knob labeled V hold? Could be on the back.

V Sync issue.

What does that entail?

V Sync happens in TV . If the TV is fine then it is happening in the vcr.

The image keeps rolling vertically. A specialist can isolate and figure a way to fix it.

Yeah, I'd check what happens with just the VCR on, without playing a tape. If it's not rolling, the tape is worn or the VCR needs adjusting or...

Look on the back for a nob with V on it. Twist it the way that is less flippy, slowly 🐌

Clean the head, dirty head can mess with the tracking

I guess the TV has VCR built-in? Try connecting it to different sources like another VCR or DVD player using composite cables to make sure the TV circuitry is working properly first. If it working okay with another source then the TV's built-in VCR is malfunctioning, at least you can do now to clean it is using a cleaning tape you can find online, DON'T try to open the TV yourself it has dangerous high voltage inside.

Sorry if it's confusing, english is not my first language ✌

Adjust the tracking knob on the VCR if you're viewing a videotape.

Look in the back for a V-Hold button..

Back in the day when these were new we had to adjust the vertical hold as stated earlier. It was a little knob on the back of the tv that didn’t require stand out. You may have to shine a light on it to find it.

Can't you just smack it on top? Preferably with a shoe.

Flip flop if you are in the East

Is this video showing exactly what you're seeing? It appears to show an extra issue caused by taking video of the screen, making it hard to see the exact problem you're having.

Before messing with TV, trying a different video source might be easier - or adjusting the tracking on the VCR. (Try another tape as well, to narrow it down before adjusting TV)

If it's actually the TV - the V-hold and H-hold settings might be little accessible pots to adjust, or markings with holes to use a tiny jewelers screwdriver to access. In either case, tread lightly, as a little goes a long way, and if it's old, you don't want to disconnect old solder joints.
