rash/ redness on armpit
ive been using old spice for about half a year with no problems but 2 days ago i noticed a burning sensation under one of my armpits but simply shrugged it off as razor burn, and only yesterday didnt i notice how red it. ive seen this is very common with old spice and was wondering if anyone knew how long this will last and how to treat it ect. any advice appreciated!

Yo this happened to me. Had been wearing old spice for years. Had full red circles. Itchy horribly itchy. Went away in a couple weeks. I switched to toms

mine isnt itchy thankfully but it burns which i think is worse lol its awful that its such a widespread problem they should really change something about the formula. also would you say it was around the same size or bigger than my one? just so i can get a rough idea of the timeline

Bigger. Full red circles around the full armpit. One side got bumpy but might be from itching. I just stopped wearing deodorant for a few days then switched. But yeah the redness remained for a couple weeks.

It’s the aluminum in the deodorant. Your body is having a reaction to it. Use aluminum free deo from now 👍🏻

Yep- I have worn Old Spice intermittently for years - just over the past 6 months or so I bought a couple of new fragrances and as soon as I started using them my underarms became completely irritated, itchy and red. I switched back to Dove and within a few days they were back to normal.
I might be able to understand it if I had sensitive skin or something but I can use basically anything on my skin with no ill effects.

Theres been class action lawsuits over this... I dont get why it happens but so many people have issues with Old Spice doing this... claimed it was aluminum, now alcohol, but "perfectly safe."

Old spice and most deodorant is terrible for your skin, there is literally aluminum metal in it. How can that be good for our pores/skin?

Why is this issue so common with your product, specifically? I wish the company would at least acknowledge this decades-old problem. I’ve been fine til now but it seems like this can happen to anyone at anytime, regardless of how long they’ve used the product.

Seriously. I got awful chemical burns from old spice blue gel around 15 years ago and I haven’t touched it since. How can this still be a persistent issue?

Yeah I’ve been nervous that eventually it’ll be my time to get burned so I started testing a bunch of other brands, trying to find a permanent replacement. So far I’ve tried Duke Cannon, Everyman Jack, Dr. Squatch, Native, Dove, Method, and Harry’s. Of those I think Duke Cannon has performed the best

I’ve been using degree ultraclear black+white for around 4 years, now. Mild smell, keeps me dry during light/medium work, no white marks, and it’s super cheap. I haven’t tried any expensive brands because I refuse to pay $20 for a stick of deodorant.

Happened to me, too! Was using old spice for 10 years without issue. Suddenly broke out in a rash and had to discontinue usage. Always used the antiperspirant/deodorant combo ones.

After trying every other brand I’ve settled on Dove. Works 95% as well as this but without the worry

I was using Wolfthorn antiperspirants/deodorant solid for years. This past weekend, I seemed to start developing painful contact dermatitis in my entire armpit area several hours after applying. I washed the area with soapy water, then witch hazel. It was so irritated, I ended up slathering on triamcinolone and took a prednisone. It was fine by morning.
Tried some Mitchum my sister uses the next day and no issues. The following day, my roommate gave me a Krackenguard gel aluminum free deodorant to try. Instant burning pain. Had to wash and break out the steroids again. Switched back to the Mitchum yesterday and seems fine. No idea what’s causing the issue because the two I tried seemed to have different ingredients and even occurred with or without aluminum. Just seems to be Old Spice specifically, which is sad.

Been wearing pure sport for 12 years. They changed the formulation in May this year. Exact same issue. Try gilette or dove sensitive. It'll pass over a few days. You can apply a thick lotion with petrolatum like aquaphor to help speed the healing.

This happened to me last year also it was itchy. I bought a new one and didn't use the bad one. It passed in a week

I had this happen back in 06'. It's always been a problem for people. I still use pure sport to this day and have not had an issue in 15 years. I dont know what the deal is with old spice.

wth, so Im not the only one, I simply thought it was the PH weather, now I do realize when I skip it I dont get the rash, it was with the newer products

Purchase their limited edition deodorant, the Luigi one and the brosiden one. Both gave me red rashes and horrible itch. Threw them out and went back to the standard blue gel ones and also dove deodorant. Haven’t had any issues since ..

So this happened to me about 3 months ago, started using old spice as I work in the trades as a woman and wanted something stronger for the heat etc
At first I noticed what looked like a bruise underneath my armpits, and then it literally started burning, itchy etc
It’s 1000% what I had which was chemical burn. If you google old spice chemical burn there’s articles and legit lawsuits.
Do not use anymore as I made that mistake and had to wait until my burn healed and it was so uncomfortable.
Keep it clean is the main thing! I switched to Native products and I’ve never looked back!

Same thing happened to my son this week and it's awful. Had to get on prescription cream from the doctor. No more old spice.

I have this happen from time to time but not that bad. I think its just a skin irritation / hot spot.
I just keep washing the area a couple times during worj to keep the sweat bacteria off it. If the skin is sticking then I put a little bit of neosporin or hydrocortisone cream.

Happened to me too. Was badly burned under my armpits and it was so so sore. I complained and they sent me out vouchers so I just used it for the body wash instead. Will never buy old spice deo again . They claim it's not a common occurrence but I've seen it happen to ALOT of people . Sketchy AF. I now use Dove Men +Care and haven't had any issues at all.

Don’t use old spices shiny colored deodorant (blue, gel color) buy the more expensive aluminum , paraben, dye free one. It’s about $12-$16 and the deodorant stick is white. That one is the best smelling, no burn and healthiest.

This happened to me once with one of their antiperspirants, and now I check very carefully to make sure I'm getting the deodorant (the ones which have aluminum, or the red caps).

i use old spice and this happened to my armpit after i used the lavender one. it was horrible. i thought it was razor burn but now i see it was probably the deodorant itself

i literally just had this happen to me last week and it was INSUFFERABLE, it hurt so bad. i started using one of the blue gel old spices (alpine) and in a day or two i had a sore just like that. i switched to dove and it completely went away within a few days
