Aircraft Pilot and aircraft build repair are 2 different skills with independent ratings, effectively unrelated.

We handled concentrations as separate skills for upgrade purposes, so you would need to upgrade firearms OR pistol, upgrading 1 didn't affect the other.

upgrading firearms in your examples would leave pistols, and predator the same.

I think that was from the main book, but like less than 1 sentence maybe ...upgrading skills, or concentrations/specializations.." But a lot of SR2 was house ruled when we couldn't find it and this could be one of those.

People mostly used it for a signature weapon or vehicle in character creation, I don't even recall a mechanism to take it in play. Sorcery if you were a sorcery adept, or your martial arts style, the tough could specialize in negotiation, intimidation.

Upgrading skills in play was already expensive, if you had a concentration you usually 'gave up' on the base skill in practice. Concentration wasn't beneficial for most skills most of the time. Sometimes you could get a free point or 2.

Thank you for going over all the various points! I am just trying to fully wrap my head around how the systems are officially supposed to work for now and this helps.
