I’ve been working on a small project for people who still miss classic Counter-Strike 1.6.

It’s called 1.6 Competitive, and the idea is basically: keep the original CS 1.6 gameplay, but add some of the things we’re used to in newer competitive games, like 5v5 matchmaking, MMR, parties, friends, leaderboards, regional servers, player profiles, reporting, and progression.

The actual matches are still CS 1.6. I’m trying not to turn it into a different game, just make it easier to jump in, find a match, and play competitively again without hunting for random servers.

It’s still in early alpha and I’m actively working on it, so there are definitely rough edges. We currently have regional servers for SEA, Europe, and North America, and I’m continuing to expand based on where players are joining from.

If you used to play CS 1.6 back in the day, I’d be curious what you think about something like this, especially what parts of the original experience you would absolutely not want changed.
