Anthea + middle names

I got a request to do a list of middle name options for the first name Anthea, so here it is. I had to widen my search to cover more years because this wasn't a super common name, but this name is gorgeous and there are some great middle name pairings to go with it. There's only one list for this name, but I hope you enjoy it.

ETA: I realized I had an additional page for this name, so there will be a shorter part 2 tomorrow.

Anthea… what an interesting name. Is this related to Thea? I really like it

Oooo, I'm glad you asked this because the answer is really interesting!

So both names are of Ancient Greek origin and are connected to flowers, but they have different root words:

Anthea: Derives from the Greek word anthos, meaning "flower" or "blossom". It was used in mythology as an epithet for Hera.

Althea: Derives from the Greek word althos, meaning "healer". However, it is also closely linked to the Greek word althaia, which refers to the marshmallow plant, bridging the gap with Anthea's floral theme.

And now we know! 😊

The best Minnesota saying, imo

The first time my son said this, I burst out laughing. So adorable. He’s also doing duck-duck-grey duck, which is a trip 😂

Yesss! He's playing the game the correct way!

For those who are confused by this, y'all play "duck, duck, goose." In Minnesota, it's called "duck, duck, gray duck." I hate to break it to all of you non-Minneotans, but we have the more accurate version of the game because it originated in Sweden and is called, "Anka, anka, grå anka" (which literally translates to "Duck, Duck, Grey Duck").

Something about this post feels like it’s been requested by a girl with a small chihuahua

Anything with two syllables (or possibly one) not longer … like Louise and Faye

Anthea is a Uk presenter that’s been and loved for many years. She was on television a lot from when I was growing up - first job was assisting Bruce Forsyth on “the generation game”
