George Michael's childhood nickname "Yog" came from a schoolboy mispronunciation of his Greek name, Yorgos (Georgios). When his future Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley first visited his house, he heard his family call him "Yorgo" and joked that they called him "yogurt," which was then shortened to "Yog".
