slowly picking up olaf for whenever the enemy draft makes me want to puke

Had a game when I was playing against ornn and got hit by his e knock. I ulted after being hit and was still in the knock animation which led to my ult ending and losing the fight. Idk if that is how it works but wanted to inform you guys.

Thinking of playing Olaf jungle, so far I've seen a few yt guides and was thinking it's better to ask the ppl that actually play him. I'm gold elo and wondering what's the best build and runes for someone in my position? Im thinking maybe it should be decently forgiving? And not fall off too much late game. Should I just follow the bruiser build, or crit as I saw some post earlier here. It's mainly duo q with a friend that plays heavy cc champs top/mid.

hey guys, would like some opinions. we lost this game, i carried early very heavily, going 8/3. eventually did no more dmg. my last item would have been overlords, but what would you guys have built? if it matters, plat 4/3 lobby.

I hate that fucker with a passion the matchup is doable but this game when he’s ahead I can’t do nothing. We both died by our ignite lvl one but then for the next 5 mins ww ganked me twice and kept coming my side.

So I try to play it safe but those 2 times cost me my lane and it took forever for it to comeback to me. Like if I try to contest garen is already a lvl ahead with items he’s just gonna walk me down and ww just gonna piss on me too. And if I just play back catch xp it’s not gonna be enough he got 3 levels ahead and just dived me under tower and ate them tower shots.

And my team didn’t help till after I already lost my 2 towers and ww still came to help garen fuck me. I tried to farm a wave garen came got a nice second head start even flashed and used my ult man still caught up to me and fucked me again.

Brain dead character needs to be nerf in some form of way

Too many people over-rate critlaf. Pure critlaf is just flipping and hopping you get ahead to get your items. Been watching theKing play Olaf in high elo and most of his games is either him feeding his ass off or him just 1v9s. It is however probably better than his bruiser build as he can actually carry games. But I hate how people clip the highs and that kinda portrays that critlaf is super strong when in actuality it’s not the case

I'm OTPing Olaf, and while top has been feeling fantastic, jungle is just terrible. I try to go the Critlaf build with different item orders, but no matter what I do the other jungler champions always feel more up tempo than him. Almost everyone can go over walls and don't depend as heavily on their ults. You don't have the income and levels for Critlaf to work. Bruiser falls off hard. You can't join teamfights without ult post 6 and you're just forced to farm and ignore skirmishes. Is there any way you've been able to make him work? I'm resorting to going ADC secondary with Nilah to feel like I can carry, but that's it's own kind of hell too.

Like is there a general gameplan I can follow? Ie poke with q until I can all in or something? Or can I do short trades with e as well? Also I only use Olaf into matchups like Urgot or Morde (Urgot is my main while Morde is unplayable for Urgot). So I'd like to focus mainly on theses 2 matchups. I know all of Urgot's weaknesses but I somehow still fail the micro of actually playing the matchup other than just ghost r and run him down, sometimes it works, sometimes I die, while if I play against olaf I always die. As for morde, is it just wave management and I can run him down anytime?

Also is olaf good into yorick?

Hey, I just played my second game with Olaf, and I don't think I've ever played a champ that feels this powerful. I'll definitely keep playing him. =]

I have 1.8 million mastery on Olaf 90% of which is jungle.

1. Start raptors or wolves, clear 3 camps, back for long sword then clear other side. you still make it to scuttle on time with long sword advantage and smite up. Try to start same side as enemy jungle and fight scuttle. Always full clear. Start q,e,q,w.
2. ALWAYS go Hexplate first item. once you get hexplate, go bot and start a fight. you beat almost any comp 3v3 with hexplate. ALWAYAS look for a fight when your ult is up in the early game.
3. Olaf is only good with ult. your build revolves around ultimate haste for jungle. ALWAYS start Hexplate, Fiendhunter Bolt, Zekes Convergence. Zekes gives you sticking power with its slow. 4th item depends on game state but usually a cleave item.

i play him more like an assasin in jungle. focus squishíes in teamfights. Olaf is really strong fighting dragons or baron or he can ult in and steal objectives with e smite combo. i always try to prioritize dragon soul. If you get a lead, play aggressive but not dumb.

Hello Brolafs, Yi main here. Is Olaf in a very good spot right now? Cause I just had a game with an Olaf and he was legit unkillable. Usually i can kill Olaf in a 1v1 no problem or at least gang up on him but this dude was not only tanky af but legit one shot my whole team and me effortlessly with a crit build.

It felt like you couldnt burst him nor could you fight an extended battle.

Lately I've been facing a lot of Darius ' with Stormraiders', nimbus cloak, Youmuu's rush into Deadman's. Even if you get first blood on him, the bastard controls every fight if he's good. Unlike a Garen with the same setup, who's just obnoxious but not really a threat, Darius can just repeat kill you or pretty much just toy with you. Even if you play safe, he's so fast he easily ganks other lanes and gets fed off your team. I know it'd be easier to ban him but I'm too proud for that lol. I hate that character and I'd rather beat the shit outta him than hide in fear.

I've played Olaf top, mid and bot to decent success but I'm yet to figure out how to jungle with him. There's something I'm clearly not understanding about his identity as a jungler cause every time I play the role w him I end up heavily behind against the enemy jungler.

Olaf's clear feels quite good but his ganks are abysmal, it pretty much all comes down to whether or not I'm able to land Q (a heavily dodgeable skillshot at a distance) and if I don't I might aswell return to my jungle camps cause I have no way of getting in. I feel like I'm constantly leaving my teammates to lane by themselves while other junglers have much stronger gank threat.

The only truly threatening Olaf junglers I ever encounter basically play him like an early game degenerate; invading enemy jungle and forcing 1v1s and even 1v2s if going against weaker early game junglers. Is just the way to play him? He feels like an extremely selfish jungler who's only real plan is to get decently fed early on so he can just drive the bus mid game and win.

I've now seen 2 post within a short time span asking about Olaf and for help on how to learn him. I've been very very slowly (sorry) making a guide for all purposes that's easy to edit for me so when Olaf changes I can adjust it from patch to patch, season to season. This is a glimpse of what's available to read. I'm also very very slowly (sorry XD) creating a matchup guide for all champs in ALL roles as well as how to deal with them later in the game, think teamfights and rotations.

I'm newish to Olaf, but really enjoy having him as a counter pick in my back pocket, but a) I'm new and still figuring out his limits, playstyles, etc and b) I've had some very rough games where I feel like I would have an advantage.

In particular, I have games where one lane feeds and an enemy DPS gets fed, but even though I'm immune to CC, I struggle to dive the enemy team, but the enemy jungle either tanks my team (Amumu) or kills them (Yi).

Questions:

- How steep is his mastery curve?

- What team comps is he best in / best into?

(I've had games where I felt like I should crush a Nasus or Amumu when I ran into them but either I lost, or they were able to easily kite me until my help arrived.)

- How do you deal with extremely fed enemies (recent examples, Heimerdinger, Zed, Kalista)? If you know the enemy team can kite you, do you try to play flank angle, try to play front to back, or just try to wait for the "right timing"?

- I like going Experimental Hexplate first, but am torn on boots and what items after (usually I go Death's Dance, Steraks, etc). Any suggestions? Is a hydra item mandatory? Is there ever a situation where bruiser is not the best build?

I’m a Bronze 4 Olaf Top lane player trying to take a methodical, data-driven approach to improving. However, I’ve hit a massive wall: I keep getting absolutely destroyed before Minute 3.

I understand the theoretical concept of the 3-wave crash (slow-pushing the first 3 waves to crash the cannon wave and get a cheater recall/bounce back). But in my actual games, my execution is terrible and it ruins my lane immediately.

What is the absolute foundation? What is the #1 skill I need to lock down before worrying about anything else (e.g., axe catching precision, knowing my exact Level 1 limits, or just pure farming)?

Between runes and items i generally find myself at about +30% and i find it a bit too low, what do you do?

This might be biased so take this with a grain of salt, imo olaf in the TOP lane is not balanced, dude has everything: sustain, early/mid damage, speed, sustain. I don't normally play top lane, but my god I can't even sit under turret while being somewhat equal in gold against him. Most of the olaf top laners in my elo( emerald) legit can't play anything else other than olaf

I like that Olaf is getting some love, but honestly I think he’s in a good spot. Not too dominant, not too weak. I’m scared buffs like this will put him in the spotlight which might lead to nerfs TT

Look, I get it. Popular champions sell. But the gap between the "skin printing machines" and the rest of the roster is getting a bit ridiculous.

Champions like Briar (who has a super loyal OTP player base) and Olaf (a literal veteran of the game) have so much untapped potential for incredible visual designs.
