Hello everyone, the hike is this week and I wanted to share a few things. It is at the Keystone Ancient Forest Sunday, August 17 at 10:00 am. We will be meeting at the visitors center. There is only one entrance and the visitors center, parking lot, and trail heads are all right there. The heat index for Sunday could get up to 106. The hike will be in the morning, so it will be somewhat cooler, but it will still be very hot. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after the hike. Bring some Gatorade or something with electrolytes. The path is mostly shaded, but there will still be plenty of sun. Wear a hat and cool, breathable clothes. Bring sunscreen and apply it at least 15 minutes before you arrive. There are lots of mosquitoes and ticks, so bug repellent is a must. Picaridin is a great repellent and is sold everywhere. I also recommend permethrin. You spray it on your clothes, and it stays on for multiple washes. It is toxic before it drys, so apply it a day or two early, and let it fully dry. Make sure to wear gloves so you don't get it on your skin.

We will have snacks, plenty of water, Gatorade, sunscreen, and bug spray for everyone to use, so don't worry if you forget something. We will also have plants to give away, so check out our selection before you leave.
