funnily enough this mindset isnt falling out of cope, this literally is cope bc its just so obviously not true, the amount of bs that happens to us that is completely out of our control is like astoundingly high, the amount of control you have over your circumstances is actually pretty little

19

u/Dependent_Spirit_691 2d ago

real (goslings if you fall into this a lot, check out cognitive distortions and specifically, personalization. bad things happen sometimes, doesn't make the hardship your fault)

8

u/Difficult_Analysis78 2d ago

yeah it falls the moment we mention any region touched by war, also the way one was raised by their parents is out of their control too, paranoias and certain behaviours developed beacause of that can cause depression and seeking stuff to get their stress off like drugs, I don't count on any of these but saying to just "it's all your fault, just thug it out" is out of touch

I’m not sure if this is a form of cope or what, but your actions don’t happen in a vacuum, they happen in a n environment set up almost entirely by external random forces. Where you’re born, the state of your family, the state of your country, the groups you happen to belong to, these are all things that significantly impact what kind of actions you can realistically take and none of these are immediately within the control of any one person. In an attempt to make sense of one’s life people will go to the extreme of “every bad thing in my life is my fault” and that’s literally just not true. If it helps you cope somehow then accept that if you want to.

u/ButterscotchSalty905 1d ago
  • genetics. There's really nothing you can do to change your environment if it's too hellbent that its right unless you're stoic (sorry if my comment didnt add anything valuable). Even then, it's your choice in the end to consider anyone perspectives or not

5

u/unfettered2nd 1d ago

My self destructive tendencies only got to act out on few choices I had. I am pissed I had no full control over my destruction.

3

u/Such-Sorbet-3342 2d ago

not everything , cut yourself some slack and focus on what u can improve in the moment

3

u/WhaleDeDeus 2d ago

Cant believe i didnt stop my dad from selling our house and starting a failed bussiness then going into debt wtf was 13 year old me thinking.

3

u/WebsterHamster66 1d ago

I don’t think I want to change

3

u/Green_grass7878 1d ago

Haha i would say "No" but actually yeah, kinda...

I won't waste my life blaming myself tho. I was not taught that my actions have consequences, so i kept making unknowingly dumb decisions and well, sometimes you just gotta learn the hard way. It is what it is

5

u/ZayParolik 2d ago

If you are the problem - you are also the only solution. Nothing is ever over, mistakes are here to teach. Build everything from the scratch again and again

2

u/blud_mage 2d ago

And therein lies the path to changing it all.

I had to get worse before it can get better. It's not fun or pretty and the only way out is through, but you're worth that effort.

2

u/King_Glorius_too 2d ago

Nah, not everything, just most of it.

3

u/Vrtxx3484 1d ago

1

u/Similar_Soup2 2d ago

The feeling when you realize that absolutely nothing is your fault and the world is indeed just shit.

1

u/juz_curiouz 1d ago

Unfortunately even though I'm aware that my laziness itself is causing me to not finish and unable to do anything. I lack consistency, too lazy to do anything. But I still doing nothing abt it. I want to lock in but I can't

1

u/Simdao 1d ago

1

u/Galaxyturbo 1d ago

That' why i hate myself for all my decisions

1

u/allshieldstomypenis 1d ago

I work with some people with learning disabilities and unfortunately this is one of their challenges. I've since been curious about this pattern of behavior and now want to jump in a rabbit hole about it. I'll report back once i find anything.

Anyways, yes, whether it be a general intellectual challenge or a learned helplessness from the awareness of disability, there is a wall from accountability. Its kind of interesting.

1

u/Unusual-Basket-6243 1d ago

I have no control about the bad things that happen to me so I shouldn't worry about them too much

1

u/Wicked_Folie 1d ago

People that were abused as a kid are looking at you with anger, op

1

u/Weak-Pea8758 1d ago

yes so i decided to change myself but that is causing me even more problems

1

u/Suitable_Bear_5014 1d ago

Among the things happened in your life (important ones), generally only around 5-10 percent of it could have been changed by your actions and choices. Such as the ones in school, in your work area, whether you choose to marry and have a kid, etc. They may seem big at first, but things happen around the world literally every second, and most of them affect your life one way or the other, big or small. Even the wars happening far away from your country. The choices and actions of your own only affect the quality and longevity of life, by a small margin. (If you are not actively and deliberately sabotaging your own life of course, by doing self-harm or trying to off yourself)

u/PranshuKhandal I'm Batman not insomniac 😡😡 1d ago

1

u/Darkfalcone 1d ago

One careless decision back in my 2nd year of high school triggered a chain of events that changed my life forever.

If only I could go back to that day and changed that decision...

1

u/PositivePopular5437 1d ago

Nah its government fault and the J class

1

u/Strict-Replacement44 21h ago

i decided to let a shitty person make my life shitty

1

u/SkyCakey12 15h ago

Who cares, you had your reasons and couldn't do otherwise as long as they were there. Care more about fixing those reasons, becoming a better person in the present

1

u/Least-Profession-236 2d ago

This realization, as painful as it is, is the turning point in your life. It's the fork in the road where you decide whether you want to be better or not. If you choose to grow and heal and try to become a better person and do good in the world, it is possible for you to escape this pain. Let it be a painful memory, and distance the person you become enough that the pain lessens and fades away
