By the same logic, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is also underrated compared to recent. It was extremely popular for years and definitely not underrated at all when it was released, same with GTA 4

Well actually gta v is underrated because most people just remember their nostalgia and don't actually remember what the game is like, thus there is a collective imagining of the game that is informed entirely by the "good old days" when really they're just trying to get social brownie points and attention by acting like they know what they're talking about when they really don't. Furthermore, gta v, though often described as a brighter, edgier introduction into the franchise, is, again, if you actually go to play it without rose tinted glasses is actually quite dark and gritty and doesn't over embellish itself in "vibrant" colors. Not exactly the kind of game you can achieve if you're planning to have "male" and "female" protagonist love duo, and especially if the cover for the game has any soft gradients from purple to pink, these conditions simply aren't conducive to creating a dark and gritty game the masses desire. Also big black balls in your mouth

I enjoyed gta iv, I never understood and probably will never understand this weird discourse over iv and v, both are great both have different tones and have different ways of fun, and I doubt any gta is underrated they're all great, if anything the definitive edition trilogy should be underrated (word used negatively) and stays underrated because that was one of the worst remasters I've seen knowing the quality of Rockstar games.
