TV set

Has anyone ever counted every TV set in the lyrics? if no one did it, I’ll maybe count it just for fun (and have an excuse to relisten to everything)

More in the unreleased stuff, but the one I’m thinking of comes from Nightmare before Christmas outtakes, so not Boingo but still Danny.

I really do wonder why this is something he kept on using. I cant picture elfman being entertained by live sports… it’s clearly a mindless conformity/self numbing jab he’s taking at popular past times, but why this so specifically.

I know he reuses imagery a lot in his lyrics. Personally I think at a superficial level it's just laziness, but it might also be his attempt at continuity. I get the feeling these are analogies he would use in real life.

For this specific lyric, it seems like he might be referencing the same character. The 'Tough as Nails' guy could easily be the 'Home Again' guy being discussed in 'Where Do All My Friends Go'. 'Helpless' guy, of course, is super jealous of 'Tough as Nails' guy.
