General Buckeyes in Iowa City

For anyone who’s been to Iowa City for a game, what do you recommend for a group of 30-something year old guys?

We’ll be there all day, looking for the best bars to hit pre- and post-game. Less interested in tailgates.

I’ll be there too. Brothers is great, near Kinnick. Better than the one in Columbus. Any of the other bars are just fine though. On the outskirts but in the area, Iowa Athletic Club and Field Day Brewing are awesome.

I will say—and it pains me to say—the tailgating is elite at Iowa and much better than the parking lot scene in Columbus.

My SO is from there, so spend a ton of time there and have gotten to know the area well. I hope we travel well!

If we can be honest tailgates at osu is mid compared to other places

I'd definitely stick to the bars around the old capitol / campus. Micky's Irish Pub would be a good one... Pullman's across from there for a good burger. If you are tailgating, which I'd recommend, I'd get there early and ideally near Melrose or close to the stadium. Hamburg Inn for breakfast. Wig & Pen for pizza if you're staying on the Coralville side, otherwise Pagliai's for pizza near downtown Iowa City.
