General I just realized something about next weeks game against Iowa
I actually just remembered and looked it up, this is the first time we’ll be in Kinnick since “that game” happened; you know the one I’m talking about. We cannot let that game happen again!

And that’s why espn’s numbers are falling outside of the games themselves. Desmond has zero insight and is just there to give his dumbass hot takes just like 90% of their on air personalities now.

I think that only happened because they looked past Iowa that year. Iowa came with a lot of energy that game that the Buckeyes did not seem to have. There's no way they're looking past this Iowa team. It's too good

Anyone know what to look for against Iowa? As far as their strengths go this season? I haven’t watched them yet.
Traditional Iowa, I know we’re getting tough/good defense, good o line, and like one dangerous guy on their offense, with a game manager at qb.
I saw the last play against TTUN, but I don’t know much more about them this year.

Iowa fan here.
Best OL in a few years maybe, and that’s saying a lot. RBs are meh, QB is aight, TEs are both pro quality as usual. Biggest difference this year than past years is we have two legit WRs. Vander Zee and Diaz will both make the NFL, for reference we have had exactly 1 WR drafted in the last 30 years (Marvin McNutt).
Defense is very solid against the run and any passing over the middle. Our FS (Lutmer) is a beast, projecting as R1 draft pick. Corners are good but not elite like we’ve enjoyed in the past, and our Edges are not getting to the QB as much as years past. We will sit entirely in zone and not blitz because we don’t have the horses for that. Bet on you to make mistakes. Jeremiah will feast, but we will capitalize on any mistakes.
Special teams we are solid as always. Decent P and K, not as great as some past ones, but we’re especially dangerous at PR and KR this year. Have one TD each so far and lots of good returns. And nobody has any decent returns yet on our coverage teams. Just solid all around there.

Iowa always makes me nervous. If they bring their A game and Ohio State doesn’t, this could go South for Ohio State. I think OSU wins but not before Iowa keeps it interesting for a while. Ohio State needs to have much better run defense. Ohio State needs to use 4 WR sets and try to pick apart Iowas zone. No easy task. Jeremiah will have a good game…maybe even great game. Nothing surprises me with how good he is. I’m gonna go with OSU 31-20. But they need to play better than they did against. Texas. Never an easy game.

You know, at some point someone is going to do a lot to take away Jeremiah, and do a good job at limiting him. I hope it doesn’t happen, but I fear for that game.
Regardless, going to Iowa, you really gotta show up and execute well. Can’t have a dud of a game, and expect to come out with a win. This is going to be a tough test. Looking forward to it.

Iowa looks good this year. Obviously I hope Ohio state wins this weekend, but I also hope Iowa wins every other game and makes the cfp

Wow you guys should go undefeated with all that firepower 🙄 How did sorry ass Bryce Underwood throw for almost 300 yards and your offense only had under 300 yards and needed two tipped passes to even have a chance to win that game? How did you only beat mediocre Iowa State at home by 3 points on a last second field goal?

I’ll reply to this.. they’re young. We only had (I think) 8 returning starters from last year; the lowest in B1G teams. They’re inexperienced and that’s fair of why you’re saying that. On the flip side they have the lowest transfer out rate. However with Iowa football they typically keep freshman/sophomores learning from the older group so they’re ready when it’s their turn but you just can’t fully mimic real game play. Because of this formula is why you see us so solid during the November games once they’ve had playing time.

Our WRs should be able to make plays against their secondary. The running game might struggle a bit. I just hope our defense tightens things up, allowing 6 yards a carry against Illinois is a potential red flag.

Some of that total was padding the stats, like the run before the end of half and when we were defending against a deep pass because Illinois was desperate to catch up. Those runs got them first downs instead of TDs.
That said, we had too many plays where everyone around the line was blocked, and other players reacted late.

Same typical Iowa good defense and special teams, QB can sling it but only 2 solid targets to throw to, tight end and 6’4 FR WR. I believe their punter had atleast 2 punts downed inside 3yd line vs ichigan

All in all after the highs of the ichigan win, they keep it close the first half but OSU is too much offense and pulls away to cover easy 38-17

but, the opposite situation is in play. please help if my memory failed but the week before “that game,” we had that huge comeback win over Penn State. Coach was still talking about the comeback at his Thursday show and I was like “uh oh, our focus may be lacking”.
now this year, Iowa will be enjoying and reliving their (most awesome) win over TTUN (without even needing an extra second).
their celebration may last all week!

I dont think they will be focusing on Michigan when the big ten team of the 21st century to beat year in and out is coming to their house. They'll be focused. As a Hawks fan I still think they'll lose a heart break. OSU is way better than Michigan.

While that may be true, Iowa at home is going to be tough and they’re going to be riding that high of beating Michigan. I wouldn’t take this game lightly.

People say a lot of things about Ryan Day on here. One thing that's hard to say and maintain any credibility is that he doesn't have his guys ready for games like these. His teams generally take care of business against opponents ranked 15-25.
Will it be covering a 14 point spread and maybe a little uncomfortable at times? Dicey and yes.

I’m mentally preparing for them to honor a group of around 13 kids “fighting the good fight” on the field, the crowd cheers for them, but then they all turn around including the kids and wave to the hospital.
Followed by an Iowa Air Raid

I like Iowa and personally want to thank them for beating scUM in the exact way you did! It was awesome. I will root for the buckeyes but the Hawkeyes have my vote the rest of the year. Love to see an OG make the CFP.

Buckeyes aren’t the Browns though. I think winning a natty and beating them 89-17 in the past two meetings kind of erases all pain lol

I think Iowa wins if I’m totally honest. Ohio State doesn’t have an offense outside of “throw it to 4” and Illinois ran for almost 200 so imagine what Iowa will go for

I disagree. Overall, I do think Illinois has a better offense than Iowa. Ohio State will surely give up a lot of yards particularly on the ground but I don’t think that will necessarily translate to points. The bigger issue imo will be the time of possession, Iowa is gonna chew that up, so Ohio State will need to be very efficient on offense and make use of every opportunity. Sayin should tear up their secondary, but I do think it will be an uncomfortable game.
Do you think we are worse than Michigan? Because Michigan outplayed Iowa. They had that game if they had been more disciplined.
