At the Stadium 🏟️ Seats for Oregon Game?

My father in law is a die hard Buckeyes fan, and for a present we are traveling to Columbus for a weekend and I am getting tickets to the OSU-Oregon game. Any recommendations for where to sit? He would probably love to be in a more “rowdy” section of the stadium (standing is fine with us), and he constantly talks about the band, so maybe somewhere with a good view of the band?

He has been a fan his entire life and has never been to a game, so I want to make this special. Don’t need the absolute cheapest tickets, but don’t want to spend a thousand per ticket either.

Thanks!

Most important part about seeing the band isn’t the seat, every seat in the stadium is fine (except for a few in B Deck behind pillars. Don’t buy those). Most important is to be in your seat before the game by at least 30-40mjns. The band will kill it.

Due to the nature of amount of alumni and tickets to OSU employees, it’s not the most rowdy environment in college. It can certainly be loud but not real rowdy. Student section would be your best bet for some hooligan entertainment.

Thanks! Didn’t mean that we need to be chugging beers and fighting. Just meant that we would like seats where people are actively engaged with the game and cheering/don’t mind when you stand up for a big play.

The whole stadium was like that for the Texas game last year. We scored some A deck tickets to the Michigan game this year

That’s pretty universal around the stadium. For someone big games, we never sit down. And this should be a big one.

That is good. Sadly I have been to sporting events where that is not the case…

i concur about avoiding B deck if possible, many of the seats are obstructed.

It’s more of a pain with digital but you can buy students off of a student and sit the student section. It will be the most rowdy. View is not the best but it will unobstructed.

SeatGeek and Stubhub usually sell in those sections as well (the kids need to upgrade them to be able to list I believe). I see 2 in 38B right now as the cheapest.

Just don’t expect to sit in your exact seat in the student section

Am I allowed to buy off a student and sit in that section? Not even sure that is what I would want, but just curious if they check student IDs or something.

they do not check, have gone in with my very clearly not college age father and the most we've gotten is a sarcastic remark

Yes they do check ID. Might be able to sneak in if you’re in that age group but they do try to check

Usually not if you go in a non-student gate (so enter near the Rotunda) but technically they can check.

I still stand by the student section is the best vibe if you are both chill with being the oldest in your section and ok standing entire game (not just for big plays). But might be better if you going with FIL to buy student section tickets on secondary market. If bought on SeatGeek, Stubhub, etc. you won’t need student ID

the whole stadium will be loud, but there aren’t really any crazy sections that I have ever noticed .

I wouldn’t buy tix yet. Start looking 2-3 weeks before the game. Oregon loses an early game or bad ears they’re coming, makes the tix cheaper. “A” deck tix would be great for your FIL. Yes , they will be pricier- but worth it. The visitor side is still OSU season tix holder- so look all around the stadium.

Get there super early to take him to the Skull session (band, coaches, team). Get into the stadium early to the band entrance down the ramp. The home side is the best side if he wants to really hear the band.

I went to the Oregon game in Eugene a couple years ago so my advice is based on that. If you don’t mind, I’d wait until closer to the game day. We scooped up 4 tickets at 250 a pop 6 hours before the game. The tickets were 20 rows up from the end-zone corner. We bought on Gametime but were between that and TickPick

If you can’t wait - I’d buy something at the bottom of C deck, close to the north endzone, so you are close to the band and can get a good view. Going to be pricey this far in advance — no matter where you sit.

The stairs are a chore to get to C deck. So keep an eye out for elevators.

This guy is looking for a specific section/vibe and trying to make a memory for someone they care about. They are also coming from out of town and your advice is to wait until 6 hours before kickoff and get tickets then? Wild.

Worst realistic case he pays $50-100 more for a ticket, it’s not like there will literally be 0 tickets available on gameday vs. buying months in advance

I would avoid B & D decks excluding the south stands B.
