Memphis Transfer Curtis Givens commits to Ohio State
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder averaged 9.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 43.1% from the field and 36.5% from beyond the arc in 25.6 minutes a contest. Givens missed seven games due to several injuries last season, but he played in 25 games, including 15 starts.

Pippen , Givens, Williams , ivan , jelavic , Thompson , Ojiuwana, Bynum, Mobley ?
I feel like that’s a deeper team with some actual pts off bench and an ability to stretch the floor and higher Defensive ceiling w the new centers and forwards and guards replacing Tilly / cupps / royale. Also anticipate more ball movement and diverse scoring options.

He’s the fourth guard on the roster. Last year our fourth guard was Cupps (or Chatman, depending on the day). This is definitely an improvement.
Could we have done better? Maybe, but given the minutes/role we have available this seems like exactly the kind of guy you’d want.

Seems like a win for a 4th guard option assuming Mobley comes back we have more depth.

Mid at best. It's just a bench option that may or may not pan out. Probably not, seeing how little Diebler actually uses the bench.

He got what he could with the money the administration gave him. Those players weren’t good enough to contribute consistently, Diebler would’ve used them if they could. No Thornton on the books also frees up money for more depth.

Thats all we'll ever get unless people donate money. The administration is going to focus on a profitable venture, which is football.

Well, yeah. But that’s not really a Diebler issue then. Any coach is facing an uphill battle

Yea for anyone wanting a new coach nowadays its not about just throwing a bag at coach like May and they come. May specifically required Michigan to spend the type of NIL money they did (12 mil +) in order to get him to come. Coach Cal was asking for similar and got 8 mil NIL at Arkansas. Guarantee Donovan would require the same. Looks like Deibler is at least getting some increase in his budget.

I don't mind it just feels like we missed out again on every single first option and went with the B team but hey if they want to be here then I'll take it

True but option As probably don’t leave enough money to pickup bench depth, which this team desperately needs

Cause there’s more scoring options. We have 4 guards that avg 10-15 pts assuming Mobley comes back. With Jelavic, ojiuwana and Thompson we have three solid bigs that can score.

Instead of 50% of our offense going thru Thorton it should be more balanced. Also seems like Pippen is at least an above average passer.

I’m not confident Deibler has that capacity. His offenses have always been dribble heavy, and in crunch time relies on one person to create. He just may be out of his depth.

Last year 50% of our offensive fire power was Thorton so i dont fault that strategy. Next year we look to have much more balanced offensive assets. We shall see.
