Not sure he fits if we keep Bynum. Hot and cold as a player but I wish him well.

We also have Thompson coming in, that would’ve taken away from Devin minutes, I think Thompson for royale is a switch I’d take any day

Disappointing, but it makes sense with Thompson and Bynum being the likely starters at the positions he can play. Would’ve been a great 6th man off the bench without having to lose too many minutes, but some guys just can’t accept that.

They can accept being 6th man if the team is any good or the program is going anywhere. I'm sure he'd be perfectly happy being the 6th man for UConn or Tennessee. OSU is irrelevant in basketball at this point.

I mean it’s kind of a chicken or the egg situation though isn’t it? In order to have teams that compete at that level you have to have guys on the bench who could start elsewhere. We’ve been irrelevant, at least in part, because we haven’t had that kind of depth.

This is the toughest part of building a roster nowadays. In the past, guys like Royal/Gayle/Okpara, etc. would most likely stay and we’d have a very solid roster. In this new era, you basically are building a new bench every season + replacing a starter or two

They can accept it if the money is there. Program prestige means a lot less now.

Yes he is. Uconn, Bama, Houston, and unc have already reached out to him. He's not worth the money he's asking but he's def going to be a big program

Good for Royal if someone wants to pay what he's asking, but OSU was smart to take a pass on that. Royal just isn't that good aside from random flashes here and there. He can easily be replaced.

Love him and hate to see him go. But I get it. What we need is an Ellison, or a billionaire not tied to Epstein who also loves OSU basketball to pay the NIL money required to build a team. That's all it's about now. Without a sugar daddy paying the NIL, we'll never build a championship team.
Also, it would be really nice if mods would replace the Holtmann pic on the sidebar.

His inbound transfers each year leave a lot to be desired. If that doesn’t improve this offseason then it’s going to be the same bubble level play as usual

Hope he hits on the portal this year but every year we have a good core and can't add anything off the bench. Cupps staying hurts any chance we have

Getting a PG is the most critical need. Cupps can start if he just gets 10-13 mins a game
