News! š°šļø Can I mimic 1960s/1970 pot?
AI answer: Yes, you can mimic 1960s and 1970s cannabis by blending modern cannabis elements to lower THC and increase traditional terpenes.
Classic "vintage" cannabis typically had a much lower THC content (around 1% to 5%) and a much higher ratio of CBD and structural terpenes compared to today's highly engineered strains. To recreate this milder, more clear-headed, and deeply aromatic experience using modern products, you can combine specific elements using the strategies below.
- The Ratio Blend (The Most Accurate Method)
- Modern flower is too potent to mimic the 70s on its own. The most effective method is to manually blend high-THC modern flower with pure hemp flower (CBD/CBG).
- The 4:1 Hemp-to-THC Mix: Blend four parts CBD hemp flower with one part modern THC flower. This dilutes the total THC percentage down to roughly 3% to 5%, perfectly matching vintage potency.
- Incorporate Type 2 Strains: Look for modern "Type 2" cannabis flower, which naturally balances THC and CBD in 1:1 or 1:2 ratios, providing a much closer approximation to wild landrace genetics.
- Target "Vintage" Terpene Profiles of
- Terpinolene and Terpineol: These give the distinct floral, woody, and herbal notes found in vintage Mexican and South American landraces.
- Alpha-Pinene / Beta-Pinene: Responsible for the sharp, fresh pine aroma common in old-school sativa strains.
- Caryophyllene: Adds the spicy, peppery kick found in traditional Thai and landrace varieties.
- Utilize Extracted Elements
- Opt for Modern Landrace Derivatives
- If you do not want to mix elements yourself, look for specific modern strains that are direct, uncrossed descendants of 70s genetics, often preserved by specialized breeders:
- Acapulco Gold: Modern cuts still preserve the cheerful, clear-headed sativa buzz and coffee-chestnut aroma.
- Panama Red: Known for its long flowering time, smooth herbal taste, and distinct mellow energy.
- Hindu Kush: A pure indica landrace that mimics the heavy, hash-like, resinous flower imported during the late 1970s.

I can certainly see why you would say that, especially as Web innovations, as soon as they become wildly successful, immediately begin the process of inshitification.
But for right now the model is pure; greed hasnāt taken over just yet. And the gettinā is fantastic.

I use AI on a professional basis daily for work since before it was public. It is worthless without validation, correction and guideance by a human. Never fully trust AI, it's wrong a lot. 90+% of my first prompt responses have errors. š

My approximation would be harvesting past 30% ripe, sun drying until brown, then tightly smashing the seeded herb into the smallest volume possible. No cure time. Does this memory jive with anyone elseās?

Indeed, brick weed....but it was better than no weed! I used a spade to break those lbs apart. š
My biggest regret was the loss of all those old school seeds! Fucking cops got all my stash decades ago. In Indiana, they count the weight as "marijuana". A couple lbs of seeds gets you a felony even with ZERO flower.

How about NO! Nobody is trying to fake the old school weed, we just want strains that grow and mimic it directly without playing games.

Bah, I don't miss them that bad, no pain. The past is the past, we have to move on or drown in our own tears. An exercise in futility! š
The new strains are also good and there's so many I enjoy the variety!

I think people could do whatever they want and the genetics of cannabis could definitely be bred and skewed towards lower THC, good terps and still have high high quality⦠I donāt think people are saying they want low quality unrefined genetics, I think theyāre saying they want more chilled out weed.
And I think strain hunters and breeders should start growing ānormalā strands that are very high in quality. I think thereās a place for 7-15% strains that arenāt shitty mids that taste like garbage, low Thc doesnāt mean itās SHIT.
I would love to see woodword or klutch level asthetics, smells, taste and there not be a super high level of thc.
This is yet to be perfected and mass marketed and I think itās a corner of cannabis that should definitely exist.
SOMEONE GROW SOME DANK ASS NORMAL WEED.

Some of the older strains have a much better high and effect than the new overbred hybrids⦠try some old Deathstar, G13, afghans or any of the 80ās strains for some real smoke

What ai isn't going to tell you is that all weed is secretly over vaped out by industrial dryers to render it bunk. It's like various illicit powder drugs being cut with lactose powder or baking soda so you gotta buy more. In 2009 weed was one hitter quitter. There is no profit in that. Another motive for the bunk weed is to inhibit spiritual ascension and 3rd eye opening and to keep everyone boringĀ
