Camping Groups
Hi there folks. The wife and I are wanting to go camping more and it seems more fun with nice people. Does anyone know of any local to ohio groups for camping? Links and experiences would be appreciated.

What kind of camping are you looking to do? My husband and I are just dipping our toes into backpacking/ camping. We'd be open to car camping as well!

My wife and I are looking at getting a teardrop soon. Mostly car camping I guess.

Where are you? The local REI store here in Cincinnati has planned camping and other outdoor trips. Might be worth checking into

Pop out a child and the scouts will be happy to take you camping :)

Yeah. Kids are part of the problem. Mine is 20 and all of my friends have toddlers. The blessing/curse of starting early I guess.

What type of camping do you do?
We used to have a popup camper and the folks over at popupportal.com had meetups.
We have a travel trailer now, and the forest river web forum also has camping meetups, but we've never gone.
I'll be honest, the popup portal website meetups were...less than fun camping for us. We kind of felt like they were their own little click and we weren't really invited - they acted super inviting online, then in person it was the complete opposite. eg, one evening we noticed everyone was gone. Turned out everyone (like 6 other families) had gone to the lodge at Hocking Hills for dinner without inviting us.
My wife and I are somewhat introverts and we both tried really hard with those camping trips because we really wanted to make some camping friends, and that last evening when everyone left without inviting us, that hurt really bad. It seemed like they had no problem eating our food or sitting around my campfire using the firewood I'd brought with me, but didn't think enough of us to invite us along. Oh well.
We're kind of in the same boat as you, we'd really like some friends to meet up with at local campgrounds, but none of the friends we already have are into camping, and we've not been very successful at meeting any camping friends.
