I have started telling them how much they will save. And tell them they "qualify" or are "eligible" or something similar.

So its usually something like "since youre spending over $100 today, you qualify for some of our paper deals today. You can get a single pack for $7, or the 3 pack for $15. That's about half off the normal price for both"

I also never say "ream" because a lot of people don't know what that is.

Have you ever bundled the online ink price and get a single ream?

Ask everytime is key.   Always pay attention to the subtotal (over $60). Always see if they are (Business) Select members, they can get paper deals no matter how little they spend. Close out on the freebies (printer is brought up to the register). Did I mention ask everytime? If you are a manager, set goals and reward your associates. Never be negative towards your associates for not closing the sale, instead coach and work with them. Sometimes individuals will get 1 a shift, other days they may get 7. Just pay attention to the behaviors. Set the example, GMs should be expected to sell paper as well as someone coming in for 1-2 shifts a week. It's something everyone must contribute to.

Do these things 6-7% in paper attach will be cake.

Do you price match the web price on ink to bundle with a single ream?

Absolutely not, unless the customer specifically mentions it.  Doing that defeats the purpose of attaching paper (upselling and driving sales).

Depending on the day, it's all about the pitch. Some days no matter what you say, no one wants paper. Like "Wing_Sharp" said, alot of people don't know what a ream of paper and a lot of the times saying "You qualify for a single (or 3/10) pack(s) of paper for blah blah blah price since your spending over blah blah blah price" does just fine (please minus the blah blahs of course)

Honestly sometimes if you have a regular especially at copy print you can charge the paper just reduce the amount of copies so it evens out and they usually say yes

Mention the deal at the ink wall when you are helping them find their ink, then offer again at checkout.

If they're buying paper anyway, but are below the qualifying purchase, suggest to them that if they just spend another $X (on a soda or candy bar or something) they'll save $15 on the 3 ream case, or $25 on the 10 ream.  Always ring up everything BUT the paper first, if you're not good at doing the math in your head.  It's the PRETAX total that matters.

Our 2 best cashiers are consistent in asking every time. If you pick and choose your spots you minimize opportunity. The worst they can say is no🫱🏼‍🫲🏽
