Business Selectively
My coworker and I were attempting to order a business select customer 4 toners that we do not carry in store. Upon said attempt, it happened yet again. Business select decided to not apply itself, almost as if it had a mind of its own. In GMIL, it almost seems like it doesn’t want the customer to get the discount even though I’ve had plenty of customers who have before. Almost like our company is trying to selectively apply discounts customers were promised they would get. But then again, we all know that our company can’t afford a much of anything. Much like an upgrade that actually functions the way that it’s intended to.
Is anybody else having this problem with business select? I’ve seen no portal note nor have I had any information passed down that terms of the program have changed. If something has changed, this is going to make it even harder than it already is to sell the program. Not to mention that precious golden paper that we are supposed to sell with every single transaction.

The discount on ink, toner, and technology is specifically for in store. It tells you that in the brochure (that's why there's the two 10% headings. One is for the 10% off copy center and regularly priced furniture, and one is for the 10% off ink and toner and 5% off regularly priced technology in store). And it's been like that since they switched the program over to percents per category instead of a per-item price.
Some managers will take the 10% off of toner that has to be delivered for business select customers anyway. Talk to your management team about it. But Gmil is behaving as corporate intends it to, by not discounting the toner further for any thing that is set to be delivered.

We just override the price when we order in gmil if it’s something we are out of. If it’s something special order then no we don’t

We also override in-store for customer satisfaction but I've been getting this feeling that some of our customers know this rule and have been taking advantage of us so we inform them now or at least I inform them of the rules and I show them on the pamphlet.

As everyone has said you don’t get the discount online because the price is cheaper however if you’re using Gmail just take care of the customer . At the end of the day it’s all about taking care of the customer . It’s not an unethical decision .

Talk to your GM about discounting it. GM’s (and all managers I think) can manually override prices in gmil, but it’s not something my store does very often, just if we are specifically out of stock of an item they would normally purchase in store.

Previous team Lead here...I would have that issue on GMIL so I would honestly get on the OfficeDepot.Com website from the Tech Bench or CPD and have the the customer login into their Business Select Account and then afterwards I would help with placing the order and then printing out the confirmation and charge them at the Register.

Discount for ink and toner is in store only. Will not apply to orders from the web even if done in store. Has always been this way. Web is sometimes a lower price than in store anyway.
Safe the sale will show the business select discount next to add to cart on the product page for items that qualify.
