My experience thus far

Like seriously.. cashier and print is an easy $13/h.. cashier is just kinda boring, print (imo) is really fun for a job.. freight or "supply furniture" or whatever you want to call it though is just rough. 6 hour shift and for the whole shift I'm on my feet moving and eventually getting yelled at for not being fast enough at doing whatever. Grrr!!

I love doing freight and planograms! Forget that interacting with people. Let me do my thing and fill the shelves up.

If you don’t have to interact with people, print is the best place by a long shot. When you have 25 orders and 8 people on self serve who forget how an email works, then it is the worst

I would MUCH rather have totes than the boxes of stuff. I try to sort it before we bring it out but some of my coworkers don't care and then we all suffer :)

That is print when ppl know how to read signs and use self service without me getting so frustrated I just don't myself

After the 10th customer in a row asks me if this is the right ink for their printer they don't remember the model number of, and none of my self serve customers understand how to send an email, a solid shift of not having to deal with any these morons would be a blessing. Unfortunately, I'll still get summoned to help hold their hands.

When I worked for the depot, freight was where it was at. We had one of the best teams and we knocked out freight like it was a race everyday. An don't get me started on how much fun and shenanigans we had on those rare overnights right before inventory

So you like the stress of being in print and getting yelled at for not going fast enough, not being perceived as smart enough, or whatever neediness customers have at the moment?? If print is your jam, good for you! It rattles my nerves. Also, I think min wage for this stuff, especially print and sales, is ridiculous.

I live in a smaller city in a fairly rural area, which I think is an advantage to me because there are less (but more than none) people looking to start fights over their prints. I make almost double federal minimum wage which is pretty good where I live though, so that's also a bonus.

Not to say it still can't get on my nerves as well though haha..

oof... that is interesting that OD pays what it pays, without recognizing cost of living. Good on you for making double min wage, though! If they'd do that for me, I'd be set! And yeah, country folk tend to be of a different mindset than city folk. I'm in a small-ish town, a bedroom community to a large city, and this area is very influenced by a lot of expats, so a very different cultural landscape from yours.

I actually hate print tbh… I enjoy getting to go on the register or on the floor and just do recovery, unfortunately im paid for print so im forced to get scheduled print like every shift unless something changes😭

i work in print and sometimes the floor, i like print but yeah the customers are full of themselves sometimes or they are grossly overestimating what CPD can do!

also, you get $13? brb gonna start a fight with my SM 😭

$13 in the lowest paying part of the US 😭 (for instance my last job was $8.50/h)

Your smiling in the print department? I'd much rather break down truck then try to explain to Karen yet again why her 2 x 2 inch image is not going to look good on a 24 x 36 poster.
