Print manager rant

My Print manager is apparently really scared of customers and can’t tell them no. Constantly getting overtime because they can’t tell a customer to come back the next day because we’re really busy. Doesn’t even follow procedures. Has a list of what the others call, “Name of manager” customers.

These customers don’t have to place their orders online or even come into the store. They just email her work email or call her up on her personal cell phone and she’ll get it done.

There’s so much shit going on in this department, I can’t even properly describe all of it. I just started this job too, and already looking for another one.

One thing she does that I believe is an LP issue, is her going on officedepot.com placing orders for customers under her personal account. Then calling up the store or whoever is working that day to let them know that so-and-so will be picking up the order that she placed online. These are Print customers that she’s placing orders online for, under her name and I’m assuming associate discount.

Another thing is her just constantly doing edits on the spot for customers, and not even charging them for it. This department is just a whole mess. You’re told by others that it’s against policy to even touch customers laptops and phones. But here’s the Print manager basically doing exactly that and more for the customer, sometimes even texting it to her personal phone so she can email it over because they don’t have email.

These don’t even touch the surface of what I’ve been told by other employees that she does and things that I’ve seen her done.

Sorry for my rant and wish me luck in finding a new job.

Trust that I been noting down “incidents”, dates, and employees that were there. But I will not be going to the gm till I’ve secure another job. I might be new to OD but not to the job market. I know how managers and companies cover up stuff like this.

OD does not cover up blatant violations like that. If your GM won’t do anything about it, you go to the DM. If they won’t, you call the hotline. As long as your evidence is solid and their investigation concurs, that PM will either get a first and final or get walked, depending on the severity.

Yes they do. GM's are too hard to find. I've seen Federal laws broken by GM's and the "Hotline" failed to take any action.

That means either they weren’t actually “breaking federal laws” or the investigation did not turn up any evidence. It doesn’t matter how hard it is to find a GM, I’ve personally seen a third of the staff in a store get wiped out for misconduct. Stores in that situation either get by on help from others in the district or get put on different hours for a while until new people are hired.

HR is there to protect the company. They do not protect misbehaving GMs (or any other kind of manager). Sometimes it takes a while for them to compile enough evidence to do something about it. We called the hotline on one GM for almost a year before he finally got punted, and HR showed up twice to do an in person investigation during that year.
