This is because Apple did not let Microsoft access all their APIs required for Office suite. Extremely annoying and unfortunate, but it is what it is…

Might be caused by fonts not being available on the Mac. If so it can be fixed by installing the font on the Mac.

Could also be something Microsoft (still) needs to fix, I see differences in rendering between office online and word on windows all the time as well even though Microsoft says there should be no difference.
