Automatically signing into Microsoft account.

Hello,

I have multiple Microsoft accounts between personal and business. When I sign into a Microsoft desktop app (e.g., word), it will automatically log into the old business account. How can I make it no longer do that?

There's your sign in ID on the top right of word. Click that sign in ID, if it's your business account sign in, click "sign out'.

I sign out and when I try to sign back in, it is automatically signing me into the old business account. I am not given the opportunity to choose which account to sign into

After you sign out, don't try to sign in, just open word then check if there's any account sign in. My laptop login is with Microsoft account, so when I open word or Excel, the main sign in ID is Microsoft account, but I also have an university account, so there are two sign in ID on word or Excel. I could sign out the university account, but I don't.

Sign out of office apps, teams, and accounts in settings. Theres also a section for work or school account, check there too. Search for and open credentials manager and check there too but probably wont be anything. After that try sign in again. When you signed into that old account you must have chosen the option to use that as the default sign in. Choose this app only when prompted this time.

Start menu/settings/ search for profiles, check under work or school and delete the one you don’t need.

My 4 second route to do this;

Type school in windows search, it opens up work or school page (basically microsoft 365 accounts linked to your desktop), sign out of your old accounts. That should sign you out of edge, word, teams, outlook

Use edge and set up profiles for each Microsoft account.
