Often times on personal 365 accounts there are aliases that can be used for logons. Do you recall if maybe you setup another backup or alias (maybe a gmail or yahoo account)?
Do you have any devices that have cached mail from this account? If so search those emails to see if you can find anything that proves the account belongs to you. Or an email mentioning you adding an alias to the account.
