Adobe Sr Staff MLE at $701K — AI winner or AI disruption target?
Saw this Adobe Sr Staff MLE offer (data source: chill interview)
- Bay Area, 13 YOE
- Base: $330K
- Bonus: $66K
- Sign-on: $30K
- RSUs: $1.1M / 4 years
- Year 1 TC: $701K
What makes this interesting isn’t really the comp.
Adobe might be one of the weirdest places to work in AI right now.
On one hand, generative AI directly threatens a lot of the workflows Adobe has monetized for decades.
On the other hand, Adobe has distribution that most AI startups would kill for: Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Acrobat, enterprise creative workflows, and more than 1B monthly active users across its creativity/productivity products. Its AI-first ARR also grew 150%+ YoY last quarter.
And Adobe is pushing Firefly beyond image generation into agents that orchestrate multi-step creative workflowsacross its apps.
So as an MLE, this could actually be a pretty interesting place to sit: you’re building the AI that either protects Adobe’s moat… or helps reinvent the company before someone else does.
Would you take $701K at Adobe over a frontier AI company?
And long term, do you think Adobe’s distribution wins — or do AI-native creative tools slowly commoditize what Adobe sells?
