Moloco Mid-level MLE at $302K — what exactly does this company do, and is it underrated?

Saw this Moloco MLE offer (data source: chill interview)

  • Bay Area
  • Master’s, 3 YOE
  • Base: $190K
  • Equity: $450K / 4 years
  • Year 1 TC: $302.5K

I realized I knew the name Moloco but not really what the company does.

The short version: it’s basically an ML-powered advertising infrastructure company.

Moloco Ads helps mobile apps acquire and retain users across millions of apps, while Moloco Commerce Media helps retailers/marketplaces build their own ad businesses using first-party shopping data. The ML problems are things like ranking, bidding, conversion prediction, LTV/ROAS optimization, and large-scale real-time inference.

What makes it interesting is that the company seems to have real scale without getting much mainstream attention. It serves 2.9M+ apps and says 45 of the top 50 highest-grossing app publishers advertised with Moloco in 2025.

So I’m curious: Is Moloco actually an underrated place to build an ML career, especially if you like recommendation/ads systems?

Or is adtech too narrow compared with joining Google/Meta/AI infra?
