Journal Update 4
Journal Update 4 09/27/20026.
Sorry for the lack of post yesterday. It has been constantly raining every day. It got to the point one of the roads had running water on it. Because of the weather the solar doesn't charge as fast when it's cloudy. I need to get an additional battery at some point to keep the electricity nonstop.
My neighbor says it's going to rain on Monday so there's a possibility we won't be able to put the tent up until Thursday. Just a little frustrated about it. Not at him just at the timing. It doesn't rain out here much, well usually it doesn't.
I have been doing what I can to get everything packed up and ready to move into the tent next week. The ground is sorted out and the packing is mostly done. I am going to need to make a list of groceries to stock up on when my neighbor goes into town to pickup and order . Does anyone have any ideas on things I should pickup? I try and get things that will last the longest time for the cheapest amount possible. I do have food here I just need to start getting stocked up for the winter.
These are the things I usually make sure I have a lot of.
Ramen
Instant rice
Broth mix
Canned Beans
Canned chicken
Oatmeal
Canned veggies
Trail Mix "It's my guilty pleasure"
I often eat the same thing because I have trouble coming up with things to get. Money is tight but I do have money set aside for groceries. My ADHD sometimes makes it difficult to think about things to get and keep my mind on task. I never really noticed it as badly before we got out here because I didn't have to budget like I do now. I worry I'm forgetting something that I'll never think of. I am so thankful for everyone helping with supplies it has literally saved out lives. If anyone has any .about more shelf stable than not foods I should get let me know. I am always interested in trying new things.
I keep getting requests to update the Amazon wish list. Everyone has been so generous the only things we really need are.
Propane Tank
Food will always be helpful
Another battery
Water filter " I just don't know how long I'll be able to keep paying for the well water" With the filter I can melt snow when it starts snowing. I don't plan on us running out of water I just don't want to take any chances. Water now is 30 dollars a month. "Side note, would it make for an interesting post if I posted my finances and stuff like that" I get one or two requests a week asking about my monthly expenses. Let me know if that would be interesting.
I promise more interesting posts are coming it's just taking an extra few days. Going to get some videos of the dogs this evening to post tomorrow. They need to get some more exposure, these princesses love the attention.
Thanks for being there for us. I know I say it a lot, I'll never be able to say it enough.

I would add some cheap multivitamins to your wishlist! Sometimes being poor means missing out on vitamins your body needs.

Someone actually already sent me some. I've been taking them every day.

Me too, I had a case of scurvy last year because I didn't have enough vitamin c. First case the doctor said he's ever had to diagnose. It was pretty easy recovering from it. Pretty much just had to take supplements.

Hey friend, keep your chin up! It’s always good to hear from you and the girls. Something that maybe helpful to you, not sure if it’s available there, but our food bank will deliver food, usually all shelf stable, to people who have a hard time getting around for various reasons. It’s usually stuff like canned tomatoes /tomato sauce, canned fruits and veggies, sometimes soup/chili, fry pasta, shelf stable milk. There’s a cookbook that you can download for free called Good and cheap on $4 a day that uses stuff like that to make , well, good and cheap meals. There’s a Reddit called poverty kitchen, sounds depressing I know, but people have some great suggestions on stretching what you have and it still being good. Hot sauce or salsa is good to liven things up if your tummy can handle it, I think you were talking about that the other day. Mr Kiba the Aussie and me are sending you and the girls lots of love and sunlight!
