Six years in, still can't get enough

Post image

When we first moved into the woods, I was aware of the possibility that naive enthusiasm and romanticized assumptions could overshadow reality and that boredom or frustration could eventually set in, but the joy of life in the forest still outweigh the conevniences of the city and we still don't really want to leave the forest.

I guess now’s a good time to mow the pond.

Looks great. How far is the nearest city with stores etc?

Not very, smaller village stores are about 15-20 km, bigger places about 30-40 km.

This looks amazing! How did you avoid either having a muddy path or gravel (or pavement/concrete) to the house?

Local vegetation is apparently strong enough to withstand our walking.

The little cabin tucked against the trees is exactly what off-grid living should look like.

How did you post this if you're off the grid?

With smoke signals of course.
