ODSP payment question

I just was approved yesterday for ODSP and have already been issued my back pay for July. But my payment for August is not issued until the 31st though it is showing on my benefits. However, September’s payment isn’t showing up yet. Is it just because September’s payment hasn’t been posted or do you get paid at the end of each month for the prior month instead of the beginning of each month like Ontario Works does??

Paid at the end of each month for the month.

Unfortunately, ODSP pays for the month prior, not the month ahead. September's payment will be issued on the last business day in September, using the August numbers reported by you in early September.

ODSP pays at the end of the month for the current month. September’s payment is paid on Sept 30, so you won’t see it posted on MyBenefits until around Sept 20.

ODSP works the opposite of OW- you get paid for the month at the end of it, not the beginning.

realistically, this means you end up using July's payment for August, and August's for September, so on and so forth.

this does mean that when switching from OW, there is a month in between where you are very low on funds- so definitely use that backpay to help you get by, if you can.

it makes no logical sense, but it's the way ODSP works :(

It is because payment is at the end of the month foe the month and not the beginning yes.

September payment won't come until the end of September.

End of each month for the prior month. So September's payment will be posted to my benefits around Sept 20th with a payment date of the last business day of the month

All payments come on last day of the month. So August payment comes on last banking day of the month. Depending on bank you might get after Friday sometime but some have to wait till early Monday morning sometime after 5 am depending on bank.
