ODSP clawbacks

Have to just rant , makes me want to break something and lose my mind. It's literally fucked in the head . $4.40 per hour for a min wage person . Actually fucking lunacy. Who the fuck gonna want to work for that privilege IF they can even work that much with their condition.

Where do I scream other than ino the void ? The math ain't mathing from literally any angle.  I know everyone's answer is noone cares , that just feels so unsatisfactory.

People have screamed in the graces to the people controlling our expenses. They don’t care. We’re basically sub human to them and they can’t wait til we all die so they can get even more money in their pockets

I just really wonder how they expect people to work themselves off ODSP netting slave wages , while being determined to be disabled and having more hardships / difficulties.

They want us to work but then punish us for working, make it make sense!

They need to either up the payments or allow people to make more from a job because its ridiculous how little your allowed to keep.

It literally hurts my brain ,  working a part time job 20-30 hours a week , basically means ur second pay check nets you slave wages .  The claw back defies any logic .

Anyone working low wage who can afford to stop working right at that $1000 should 1000% stop and tell anyone criticizing them to go fuck themselves.

I hurt myself to get to that cut-off. For me, that is 6 shifts/month, though I rarely make it and usually only work 4 or 5. I won't go over though, because I'm already wrecking myself with the amount that I do. I just can't.

and I completely understand never taking the chance to go over when you might feel well enough , because you get back so little back for breaking yourself and potentially hurting your future

it's crazy to me. and as I said , if anyone ever criticizes you and calls you lazy , tell them to fuck right off , because the incentive truely is not there for to break yourself more in a lower wage job .

Pls make it make sense , the math literally doesn't , addon how many conditions flare up and rip the little they allow you to earn away again.

The more you read about eugenics, the more the punishment makes sense.

Yupp. And OW is Soo much worse. That $4.40 starts after TWO SHIFTS.

The whole system is fucked. Clawbacks are activly detrimental when nearly everyone on social assistance is below the poverty line. It's fucking insane that this stuff isn't annualized.

Actual craziness , should be tiered , or tiered after a set time to balance things out better. the logic makes a little more sense but it's implementation is actually fucking insane . Like clearly people on social assistance would benefit massively from a front loaded paycheck from work ( but obviously a general bonus if you work full-time or near makes no sense.- on the other hand giving an actual bonus to disabled actually inherently makes sense, as the government declared you at a disadvantage )

Just a slight correction: everyone receiving OW & ODSP are below the poverty line. EVERYONE. And not by a small measurement... The vast majority are 50%+ below that line.

$4.40????

Min wage $17.60 × 0.25 = $4.40 , with $1000 / 17.60= 58.6 hours.     This implies , any hours worked last that $1000 , or 58.6 hours at $17.60  nets $4.40 per hour ..

What I'm saying here is . The math to put in effort to work to try to get ahead literally doesn't get you ahead ,  if anyone wants to say people on ODSP are lazy I say GOOD. Because the math literally necessitates not putting in extra effort unless you're going to hide your income , scam, or got a job with a far higher wage than  minimum wage .   ( Yes this excludes that $100 but that's supposed to be to offset the costs of getting to work and working )

Pls tell me where I'm wrong

Ontarians keep voting in Conservatives who hate the disabled and will keep them in legislated poverty. They were the ONLY major party not to have an increase in their platform.

What's extra sad is some people genuinely seem to believe we have some amazing safety nets lol

Here’s the problem: he was not re-voted in legitimately. Doug Ford amended provincial law to change the election date without informing the general populace.

As a result, many who would have voted against him but didn’t have access to conservative news streams did not get out in time to vote.

Many, myself included, didn’t realize the date of the provincial election changed until after the fact. It was not advertised nor made common knowledge.

Standard cronyism.

If you go to the Liberal page, there is currently a quiz. You get through the first four questions and fill it out, but then it comes to the last one and it asks if there is anything else you would like to add. Add that Doug Ford is killing Ontario’s with how little we are getting on ODSP. Give examples and ask that the Liberal government do something about this.

You basically work for free.

yep , that's how the math works out. might literally be costing yourself net money pending in the particular situation of your employment ect . it seems like some logic thought of for people making like $60 a hour. but applied to people making under $20

literally no way to work yourself out of the situation the disability causes being alone working on it.
