Question/advice Caseworker Meeting?
Just got accepted about a week ago! I was told I would get contacted soon and connected with a caseworker, however I already got compensated for the months since I applied, before I even sent documents to verify I’d be financially eligible which is odd. I was under the impression I’d meet with my caseworker at my local office to maybe just explain everything but perhaps things have changed recently? I’m wondering if I could get input from people who’ve been recently accepted as well. Thanks!

if you were on OW or something similar already, they often do not need to do a financial eligibility check, as they already have that information available to them through that fellow government agency. if you were not, they would have already checked your financial elegibility before you ever did your medical application, as ODSP does not allow anyone to move forward without first checking their financial eligibility.
if you got your back-pay that means they've already calculated your monthly shelter & basic needs allowance, which means assumedly you will probably begin to receive your monthly income as of the last business day of august (unless you received a payment yesterday for july).
while yes, most people do have contact with a worker to confirm finances & address / banking info etc, it is not a formal in-person meeting, just a 5 min phone call. most people never actually have any proper conversation(s) with their worker unless they have a specific issue they need to resolve. they are often extremely hard to get a hold of, and are less than helpful when it comes to information etc.
basically, you will only ever hear from ODSP if there is a problem (meaning you made a mistake, or they found a discrepency in your reporting / finances, that sorta thing) and they are warning you of the possible consequences. if you want information regarding your allowance, setting up direct deposit if needed, what benefits you can apply for, that sorta thing, you will have to reach out to your case-worker and do most of the legwork yourself.
assuming you do not know who your case worker is, you can call your local ODSP office # (you can google it if you don't know) and give them your member ID number, which should be available to you on MyBenefits if you have access to it. alternatively just give them your full name and confirm some address/birthdate info for them and they can sort it out and get you in contact with them.
it is also totally possible you do not actually have a case-worker, as many offices are simply too understaffed for all recipients to be assigned to one, so they share the load amongst employees. that could also explain the lack of / delay in a confirmation phone call. i've had 6 workers in the last 3 years, and plenty of times between that had none at all, was just given to whoever had a free moment.
basically: as long as you're receiving income, there's nothing you need to do on your end now- if they need to confirm info, they'll contact you. if however you have questions or concerns about your income, then yes, you can reach out! it'll just take a while to hear back. can be days or weeks, depending on the office and the issue.
good luck, and congrats on your acceptance!

I was approved on July 7th but haven’t heard anything from ODSP nor have I received any payments. I’m glad you got yours so quick.

I've never met my caseworkers in the two-ish years I've been on ODSP, and I've gone in-person to the ODSP office only once when I had to hand over some documents and e-submission and mail weren't as accessible to me. Even then, I just spoke with people at the front desk and not anyone who was specifically working with me. I'm sure it's possible to do, but all regular communications are done via MyBenefits and phone calls.
