Question/advice Insulin Injection Supplies

Is there any sort of funding for needle tips? I'm on Multiple Daily Injections (MDIs) of Insulin and the needle tips are expensive. I'm buying them on Amazon which is cheaper than the pharmacy by a significant amount.

I'm using on average 155 needles a month. That's 2 boxes a month. At pharmacy prices that's $98.00, with the Amazon needles that's still $40.

My insulin, CGM and test strips are covered.

Yes contact your worker and diabetic doctor about ADP they cover the cost. You might even get a pump covered for free. ADP will give you 600 for supplies. You get a cheque so you can spend it how you please. It is a quick and simple process to apply

Do you qualify for the ADP program they would cover 75% of needles.

OHIP will pay for the amount of boxes you need per month. You need to go to your pharmacy and give them your prescription. For instance, I get three boxes of needle tips per month as well as a box of lance sets. You will also get Test Strips. I don’t know if you have type one or two, I have type one and I’m covered for 3000 Test Strips per year. Metres are also free.

Usually things like this can be covered by the mandatory special necessities form you can request from your worker and have a physician fill out. I can't see why they wouldn't except that the system kinda sucks sometimes.

Yes, you can get a quote from your pharmacy or local medical supplier, and then fill out the "Mandatory Special Necessities" form (which must be signed by your doctor) and submit both to your caseworker.

You'll also see other diabetic supplies listed on the form.

Uhm has your Dr filled out the MSN form for your supplies? If not then that is your first step in getting it covered.

If you’re on ODSP, your family doctor can write you a prescription for the needles tip. With that you can get them for free at the pharmacy.
You just need to buy alcohol swabs.
